hi everyone, both my lurcher & greyhound seem to have a sensitive stomach. and have the runs on and off, i dont feed my dog processed dog food. they have brown rice, oats, raw eggs, natural yogurt, raw chicken wings, goats milk etc. can anybody recommend a good quality dry food for both my 5 month old pup and greyhound, my terrier seems to be able to eat anything and not make any difference to her. thanks

hi everyone, my lurcher pup and retired greyhound have very sensitive stomach and most of the time have the runs. i dont feed them processed dog food just brown rice, oats, nartural yogurt, raw chicken wings, goats milk, raw eggs etc. theyve been to vets in past and he said change there diets and advised me to change it and tried selling me expensive dog food! im thinking of introducing a bit of dry food for them because apart from the chicken wings its all very sloppy food and think this may be the problem, can anybody recommend a good quality dry dog food? thanks

cant fault you for wanting a merle, ive got a 5 month old pup and hes such a good looking dog. there different thats what attracted me to them. hes a collie x greyhound x whippet and hes really intelligent and hopefully will make a good working dog

let him do what he wants, its his dog but he will be the 1 in tears when its f****d. i HAVE witnessed a dog that has been worked from a young age, walking miles day in day out, running at side of a push bike. You idiots think ur doing it a favour and getting it fit and strong. it will end up with bow legs, joint problems arthritis when its older. the bones are soft and fragile and yes pups runs round yard all day playing with other dogs i know this coz ive got a pup lurcher but after 15 - 20 min he stops and has a rest, your pup cant because your dragging it miles and miles on a f*****g lead.

how many walks for 4 1/2 month collie greyhound
shaun1986 replied to shaun1986's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
thanks for all advise, ive stated walking him for about 40min in a morning with my greyhound and he has around 15 min of that retrieving on park. ive done this because im at work all day and if hes not tired out he runs riot allday chewing things etc and annoying my mrs lol. he loves a long walk and would keep going for miles, i also give him a 20 min walk on a night. he is around 5 month old now so i think he needs to burn off energy and keep fit. i want him in good shape for next year as he will be out 3 or 4 nights a week and mooching on a weekend. thanks again -
same as graham 4877 said, bond with the pup, get him to retrieve to hand, i dont feed my dogs any commercial dog food. i feed them raw oats, raw eggs, brown rice, natural yogurt, goats milk, wholemeal bread, oily fish like pilchards, sardines, and most of all raw chicken wings. only thing i cook is the rice. i add brewers yeast and cod liver oil to there diet once a day and my dogs especially the pup are in top condition. takes a lot more work and prep but well worth it

hi ive got a 16wk old collie x greyhound pup, and im a bit unsure about how much walking he needs. ive always been told that playing is enough for exersize for them, he plays all day with my terrier. i give him a good walk in a morning for half hour and a walk round block on a night but i dont want to damage his joints and muscles by to much walking. any advise would be great thanks

u should let the pup be a pup until its at least 11-12 months old, ive recentley got a collie greyhound whiipet and hes nearly 4 month old now and all he wants to do is play so how people can start to work them baffles me, for the next 8 months i will be training him and bonding with him so he returns to me when out, retrieves to hand, to be good around my kids etc etc but at the same time make things enjoyable for him so he dosn't loose interest and become bored. i think starting a pup young you will destroy his confidence and drive because he wont be experienced to chase and catch his prey a

just out of interest on what people feed there dogs? The pup for breakfast has 2 and a half weetabix and goats milk, 2nd meal is rolled oats and a raw egg mixed together with a small amount of goats milk. 3rd meal is either raw meaty bones or rabbit/ tripe/chicken wings/butchers off cuts in a bowl with oats/wholemeal bread soaked in goats milk with brewers yeast and cod liver oil, my greyhound and terrier have same diet but only twice a day. Ive always fed my dogs on complete dog food or tinned with mixer but they constantly had runs etc. my mum gave me a book called "give your dog a bone" an
