  1. Looking good Jigsaw! You've been busy for sure! <>LP
  2. I'm pretty sure she was ran with his staghounds on coyotes. <>LP
  3. They look good Dan! It's been a good year so far, hope it stays that way! <>LP
  4. The people in the show are really nice folks. Looks like an easy way to make a living. I met em at Loomis, Nebraska a couple years ago. <>LP
  5. I hope she heals for you. When I have a stag with a leg injury I swim them to keep em in decent shape. You can excercise them without having to put weight on the injured limb. Just a thought-good luck! <>LP
  6. Steady, you're welcome here anytime! It woulda been a circus if Stuntman was here! Thanks for riding along and helping spot game, and taking the pics. I just hope you didn't run out of milk duds on your way home! DAN, post any pics you want anytime. Seems like these guys enjoy em. I'm gonna get after the coyotes again in the morning, we'll see how it goes! <>LP
  7. Thanks everyone for the favorable responses. I went yesterday and only caught 1, we've had so much rain that the muddy fields are hard on the dogs and for me it's all about the dogs. I take some long turnouts, but not one that I think will damage the stags. I turned down 3 yesterday because they were on the wrong side of standing water or on the backside of a flooded ditch that was prolly 10' deep and running fast. I'll get em next time. This morning I loaded and jogged the dogs about 4 miles along the river on a sand road so they'll be ready tomorrow. My thoughts on them eating the corn is th
  8. The yellow looking one was prolly 40# and the other one I'm holding was 46#. For some reason this year they are heavier than in the past. We took the pic to show the different color phases-every color from black to blonde. I drive and spot them and send the dogs to em from the road, some of the races are over a mile and are a blast to watch thru the binocs. We also run em with hounds and I'll circle a couple miles away from the hounds and catch the pushouts that get nervous when the hounds are running. If the hounds bay one and can't get to him I send a stag to knock him down or jerk him out a
  9. I'm surely not an expert on any kind or breed of dogs, but I sure have a lot of fun with em! The white and lemon spotted dog is about # and the black dog is 71 or 72# Both have seen a lot of game for their age and always seem to want more. They are both bred down from Oklahoma and Texa. coyote dogs that have done well over the years. They have been hunted only on coyotes in the daylight here in Illinois. We have an abundant supply of deer so the coyotes grow good and are healthy, and run good in front of hounds or stags. Here if you don't have a dog that will take the throat and pin the head
  10. LIVE ACTION!!! Big day for me and Steady, Frank and Jim's hounds ran the bygod out of em all day. Only 1 was caught ahead of the hounds and that was so we could get the hounds caught and go home. All 6 were caught with stags, 3 with mine and 3 of Allen Kaufmans. We can't wait til tomorrow now that we have the edge of Gumby. Maybe with luck I'll be able to run with her tomorrow! The dogs in the pic are Muddy (black pup off Twister x Texas gyp) and Danny off Scooter(Okla. bred) Both young dogs do it all, they catch and fight the throat and they are good at it! Wish you could have been here Stunt
  11. G2G= Busterdog got to watch the stags catch a coyote when he was here too. Good job with your gyp by the way!! <>LP
  12. I still run a couple stags that are 7 yrs old on coyotes and they do their part everytime. They have been on a lot of coyotes, but not ran in the ground. I think there are just so many hard races in a dog, it's up to the handler when to use em up. Seems like most hunters get rid of em at 4 or 5 depending how they hold up, and due to losing speed. They have to bust the balls to catch a hard running coyote where I live! <>LP
  13. One of the better dogs I hunt with is a JR that's been "fixed" and he does a good job for us on coons and groundhogs. He belongs to my hunting partner, he likes em white and I like em black. <>LP
  14. Thanks for accepting me for membership. I'm from southern Illinois (usa) and run stags on coyotes, hounds on coyotes and fox, terriers on coons and groundhogs, and curs that tree squirrels and coons. Busterdog came over and saw the stags in action last year, and Kye and Ritchie hunt with me some. Again, thanks! <>Leonard Perry
