  1. I don't kill for pest control, only for pure sport and as I am not too fond of rabbit or hare I mostly give them away to my french friends. I see a lot of game on the moment and restraining myself not to slip a dog is a challenge. I love to see some action but I enjoy a hare grazing undisturbed in the sun too. Everybody needs a break. It is too hot anyway, my dogs have to cool often when they run. But now is the time to scout around, with and without lamp, to make plans for september... L
  2. Merhaba! If you have family who hunts with tazi or stories on hunting with tazi...we like to read about it L
  3. Hey! I was after snowshoe hare in NH...they are not similar to the hare from here or the UK, they are never far from cover, real woodland hares. I would recommend a relatively small real fast dog that can get to them before they dissapear. A whippet or whippet lurcher would be my choice. Are you in forrested hills? Close to plains? yours, L
  4. Same here...my dog has one testicle inside...but I quote from an earlier post of someone...they don't catch hares with their testicles...no problem here with the prey drive, muscle or dog-dog aggresion so he's prolly got enough testosterone. Publications on cancer risk are variable...some recommend removing the testicle some not...a lot agree on an increased risk later in life...but it is a risk not a certainty... The operation would involve anesthising and cutting the dog...that is a real risk. I don't take it...if it is growing later in life I'll decide what to do... L
  5. And...any progress we should know? L
  6. Ok had a Hungarian look at it...it says what you would expect: - The website is of a club dedicated to conserve the hunting with dogs and the hungarian greyhound - It gives the rules of the club, the rules of coursing, the rules of membership of breeders - Coursing is legal for sure - most activities take place in the East where there are great planes (pusta) - Galleria means gallery...so if you want to see some pics They have a link page...mostly links to breeders of hungarian greyhounds and hunting departments/legislation... L
  7. Nice...really nice. Using deerhounds as catch dogs with hounds pushing the game out of cover...this is how it used to be before firearms...William Twiti would be proud Thanks for sharing! L
  8. Good good find that website Cuagus.... I will have a hungarian looking at it and telling me what is on...I thought that coursing was illegal in most eastern european states but I do not have real good sources and I don't know what law they had before and during communism. The north borders Ukrain where it is legal and they have some humongous flat planes with hares and a sighthound tradition...if I get some translated I'll report in short what I find... L
  9. It's getting time for new ones but some oldies I like
  10. Very Nice. Looks shiny and useful. And if with you all the time she is well socialized too... Take your time, get her exercise and as obedient as the two of you can get together. I dare to bet that she has the prey drive and it will only take 1 or 2 easy kills before she is tuned on. Big chance that within 15 posts from now you'll put the first pic of a kill up. The whippet longdogs I know are vicious killers of everything and pretty good at coming back. If I were you I would be looking for rabbits with a lamp or "stray"chickens...make the first kills as easy as possible to prevent openin

  16. Mine are indoors. I like to have them close and look at them and they like to look at me it seems. And they don't really do anything indoors other then lay on the furniture and gnaw their bones. They rarely bark. I am away for at least 8 hours a day and they don't make a fuss of it but they have quite some exercise in the evening.
  17. What was the ultimate quarry pre ban? Ehhh? Why do you want to know? Do you think an ultimate quarry excists? L
  18. 17 months is young esspecially for a big dog and saluki types...don't hunt it for the coming summer...give it a break...don't stimulate the prey drive...and something really easy to start next year... L
  19. Na that's ok...only one town...and if you want you can live there

  21. Kan jij er wat van maken HH? Jassalend doesn't make sense, not even in the old days. Jossalind or Jossalinde sounds much more normal but it must be really rare, google NL does not give any hits...it is not a last name it seems. Ditch, the letters underneath the name might be important can we see them too? And is the first capitol really a J? L
