    i do a lot of deer a few reds a year ago we came on a big red 14 points a big beast we sliped 2 pure deerhounds a dog and bitch the dog is 80lb bitch is 55lb he burst up the bitch badly and the dog was on him for 35 mins trying to pin him and he did a lot of damage to the dog as well these dogs take a lot of game but this red still got a way he fought the dogs all the way the bitch was 6 months out after it so after that i will never slip less than 4 dogs on a beast that size again and these dogs have taken fallow and sika stags on there own

    no he was in a kennel on his own went to another vet today and he said that his body is growing very fast and it has effected his bone like a type of posion in the bone he gave him tabs and that should do it he thinks

    ya the vet was stumped im going to see a vet tomorrow hes a 75 mile spin but if he can sort it i wont care

    the old deburn was very good the new one is very bad i bought one and it left me down every time so i got the bellman and flint one and its outstanding i dig with it 3 days a week and it never let me down a great range

    fed my dogs this morn before i went to work all in great form when i came home my pup counld not stand hes in good form able to wag his tale eat just cant stand the vet dosent know whats wrong hes not in pain just cant stand up

    was just speaking to my mate and the young lad came to say sorry and his father sorted him out with a clip around the ear and made the young lad pay over 500 euro + the 300 to the poor lad who bought the pup

    got a phone call last night about a pup i breed asking what way it was it crossed as i did not know this person i was surprised because i only breed for my self and a select few the pup he was on about had been stolen from my friend 8weeks before hand as i asked how he got it i was told he got it from his mate for a steal 300euro his mate turned out to be my mates : next door nab son the muppet was talking up the pup so the pup is safy at home and the young lad has a lot of explaining to do with father funny how it works out

    when a dogs body breaks down protein it creats high acid levels to break down the protein for the dogs system this amio acid is also needed by a runnning dog to repair tussie damage during a course so if a dog is eating to much meat he wasting this trying to break down excess meat in the body a sign of this is froting after a run early season the acid in the gut used to break down the dogs food is a different type of acid than amino acid .... amino acid comes from protein which in turn comes from meat ... now i am not going to get all technical and use big words with you as it is plai

    Deerhoundworking -You are thinking too much mate .Dogs unlike ourselves ,thrive on a regular diet of MEAT,MEAT,MEAT .Its the amount of meat you need to adjust in the diet and not remove it altogether. Off seasons are not excuses to feed the dogs a poorer diet ,just cut down the ration to maintenance. Too much excess protein is wasted on a dog that s not working and passes out the back end ,stressing the kidneys if fed to extreme. i dont feed a pooer diet the fish and mince trip cost way more than the meat but i see your point on the amount of meat as the thinking goes i always try to imp

    when there not working there not burning and the meat can do harm in there system (fat) so as there work increase then they need meat to help them with there work load lol what harm can meat do to a meat eater ... i am dying to hear this one lol ............ nothing but would you like to eat the same thing day in day out if a dog eats to much meat it can effect his running i.e to much protien

    leon if you dont mind me asking what problems did you encounter as fitness goes they will get five miles every day and in mid july i put tem on a walking m/c in the mornings and evening timei road run 3 miles and walk the last 2

    i feel they benifit more in the winter when they had little are no meat for the summer

    as my dogs finished up for the season i reduce the meat in there feeding to once a week and put them on nuts and fish and cooked mince tripe until september when i put them back on beef chicken nut rice pasta so i like to know what do lads like yourselfs do and how do ye feed

    no mate ive got no pavements but ive got four acres if you think you can get a digging dog 110% fit by walking it down some poxy pavement, your a better man than me. when i mean fit irealy mean fit well if you want them that fit a walking m/c is the way to go a tip for you always give the dogs a run after being on the m/c if you dont the muscle will become to tight from the m/c

    i find them good i use mine for the deerhounds and terriers there great when its pissing out side it keeps them fit i give them 20mins morning and evening i made mine from a convayor from the airport

    that bitch looks great a credit to you tc,she looks like she is ready for any hare any time,would love to see the deerhound cross that could beat her, just because it looks the part doesnt mean it is and she looks a fine dog but no one can say that one breed is better are worse than another its what inside a dog that counts no matter what breed

    my sort of dog mate hope she does you proud she has so far shes knocked a smile off a few faces shes shamed a few lads who said she wouldnt take a rat she can get in any where 1st dig the lads were saying that she was hiding because no sound and she was locked to his neck
