  2. letting them eat or drink out your hand is good ive always let them lick spit out the palm of my hand i know it sounds minging but they like it and it teaches them that hands are good and theres no need to attack them. just handle them loads and loads and then a bit more its all worth it it the end it just takes patience.
  3. we got 2 sandy jill kits yesterday theyre quite nippy as the wife found out today i tend to favour the finger and thumb round the neck and the rest of the hand behind the front legs and under the belly technique when handling nippy kits that way they cant get their head turned round to get their teeth in. hope this helps..
  4. have you ever thought about getting a gerbil
  5. nice 1 mate. fantastic write up.
  6. is the smell of ferrets likely to be enough to keep rats away? i wouldnt of thought so but the reason i ask is this lass at work has rats in the roof of her extension somebodys told her if she puts rags with ferret smell on the rats wont like itand will go away.the only way she has any kind of access is by removing the spot lights in the celing.
  7. i found a ferret at work and fetched it home it seemed ok at first but on closer inspection it has some quite large ticks on its back. what is the best remedy for ticks and will the ticks be passesd to my other ferrets? thanks scott

  15. im no expert mate but mine are right barstewards 1st thing in the morning but ive learned they just need to burn some energy off and have summat to eat then they are fine for the rest of the day i started with the 1 (HOB) for the exact reason you did to keep my 9 year old son off his xbox then i went roiund a lads who had a few and realised ours needed a play buddy so got a jill the hob will be snipped as soon as hes old enough so the can be kept together all year round and bring her out of season like i say im no expert but be patient and handle handle handle then handle a bit more.... atb

  20. just a few words of encouragement from a begginer..... weve had our polecat about 2 1/2 week now. hes 11 weeks old ive been handling him 5 or 6 times a day from anything betwwen 10 mins and an hour. ive been spitting in the palm of my hand and letting him lick it. he takes food from my hand in a way that he knows not to bite my fingers. (or at least it seems like he knows not to) i think he really needs a friend and she should be here by the end of the week. time and paitience really do pay and the vast majority of folk on here are spot on and the advice iv had has been a great help.
