Restocking Really Low Rabbit Numbers
swg dave replied to swg dave's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Good point Phil, Pasture land with dairy herds is the place a mate of mine restocked with good success, i would put some thought in to where you place the shooshoi,s as expressed by Phil Lloyd, and avoid places you know where they use .22 bullet rifles because i know pest control must be carried out, but for feck sake you havent got to shoot every effing rabbit on the ground, and trust me ive met a few of that type that then complain there is no rabbits on the ground, then off they go to decimate the next lot of fields, idiots.I know the rabbit is a pest and they can cause a lot of damag -

GOOD ON YOU DARCY, FOR SPEAKING OUT -
Has anybody ever done this, as i have a friend who restocked a place and the rabbits are still their now. I am not on about trying to turn the countryside back into a plague of rabbits, but so many on here talk of the low numbers, walking for hours to get a few runs, what that tells me is they are not there so just stick a few rabbits down here and their put them into existing bury,s a nice few does with a few bucks, leave alone and watch. We all know of somewhere where this can be done, and in the right place it should be no problem. You hear about big bags being taken maybe put some o

I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY, LAMPING IS A GREAT SPORT AND ITS SAD THE WAY THINGS HAVE GONE SINCE THE 80s, WHY I SAY THIS IS FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO WERE NOT ABOUT THEN,, LETS SAY FROM AS FAR BACK AS I CAN REMEMBER WHICH IS 1978 THE FIELDS REALLY DID MOVE WITH RABBITS FROM THEN TO NOW SADLY IT IS ONLY A MEMORY FOR US OLDER GENERATION DARCY WILL KNOW, PHIL LLOYD, BIRD, AND A FEW MORE ON HERE. THEY REALLY WERE GREAT DAYS FOR ME AND TO BE HONEST I,VE NEVER LOST MY LOVE FOR LAMPING I TOTALLY LOVE IT WITH A PASSION. BUT FOR THE SPORT WE ALL LOVE AND THE SPORT WE CALL LAMPING LETS NOT ABUSE THE RAB

Then there is talk of a very strong EL NINO year with a freezing winter, i dont know,,,, lamping gods do us a favour bring some descent dry windy nights, i need to fill the freezer up LOL.

I was getting £1 a rabbit 30 YRS ago.. if every body that sells their rabbits all put the price up at once you could get at least £2.50 a rabbit, they are worth that all day long to any restaurant, would you agree..

Me and my mate popped out for a few runs last night, met at his place couple of cups of tea and a bit of a chat only to go out side to get on our way and noticed that haziness round the street lights, ol bullocks, i said,, its gonna turn misty, but we set off all the same. Anyway we go to this first place a bit of a walk to the fields so we hit the button on the old 150, and low lying mist starting to creep across the field towards us. so straight back to the motor deciding whether to call it a night or as you do,, try and think where we would get a run, what with knowing it was going t

Lamping, Coursing, Bushing, Retrieving to hand fur on lamp, and feather from water. Not saying all do the above, but over my lifetime i have seen some very handy mutts that deserve that special name,,, THE LURCHER,, best of the working breed by a mile. I have even seen Bedlington X Whippets try and go to ground before the ban. I was introduced to lamping at a mere 11 years of age, i have owned some really good, and some not so good over the years in all honesty, Lurcher,s that is,,, but i have always looked on the lurcher as a bit mystical, special. After all the old lurcher dog or bitc

Good Start To Wheaten Type Lurchers 2Nd Season
swg dave replied to MR RABBIT's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Well done Mr rabbit -
In all honesty,,, who else would agree with me that lurchers are field dogs,, and not tearing off through Effing woodland dogs,, that sometimes end up dead or as good as.. if not injured,, not always but most injuries happen, when in woodland or running ground not inspected..

THE 150 LAMP IS SH*T GAZ,,,, LOL
-
Well done Ruggers,, admit it, you done the pogo in excitement, LOL

Hopefully this weekend me and my lamping partner are having a late one if he is not grafting,, hope he aint. Dogs are fit, which in my book is so important, make sure they are fit fit fit. Looking forward to the season lads, and this bitta ground holds a few shoosh, although we are not out to make big numbers, the most important thing above everything else is you and the old lurcher dogs enjoy it. This time of year when daytime walking the dogs, i do not allow my dogs in woodland off the lead as so many injuries occur when dog takes off after an old rabbit that takes his eye only to bust

THE ,S WERE GOOD OLD DAYS AS WELL DARBO, BUT FOR THOSE OF US THAT CAN REMEMBER THE ,S MUST AT SOME STAGE THOUGHT ABOUT THE PRE MYXY DAYS, IF ONLY WE COULD ALL GO BACK AND SEE WHAT IT WAS LIKE. THE KIDS TODAY ARE TAUGHT WRONG IN SCHOOLS ABOUT OUR COUNTRYSIDE LEFT WING NAMBY PAMBY BULLOCKS, TO MANY IDIOT TOWNIES MOVING TO THE STICKS, AND THERE TOWNIE EFFING SILLY WAYS.

HAD A LITTLE CREEP OUT THE OTHER NIGHT, JUST TO GIVE THE DOGS A QUICK SPIN AND WAS HAPPY WE HAD A FEW RUNS EACH, AND 6 FROM 8 RUNS WAS SATISFYING, IT WAS JUST TO GIVE THE OLD LURCHER DOGS A LITTLE TASTER. ANY WAY OFF HOME WE HEADED. AND THE CONVERSATION LED TO PRE MYXY DAYS, WHAT A DREADED FU*KING INVENTION THAT WAS. I WOULD LOVED TO HAVE BEEN ABOUT TO SEE WHAT OUR BEAUTIFUL FIELDS WERE LIKE BEFORE THAT SPREAD LIKE THE PLAGUE,, MUST HAVE BEEN QUITE A SIGHT TO SEE SO MANY RABBITS BEFORE MYXY, ANYWAY 4 OF THE RABBITS ARE NOW IN BIG STEW POT, READY FOR COOKING. STILL A COUPLE OF PL
