  8. oh by the way youre supposed to use 2mm drawcoard to string your nets you can get a good deal from agouti! spun poly aint strong enough
  9. first of all you cannot get 6z spun poly it aint invented! spun poly comes in 4 braided ply and has 120-140 lb breaking strain. the z is the twist in the nylon twine as it is spun off the ball.all the good net makers on here are selling 3ft 6ins nets and 17/18 meshes wide for £2.50 . we are all happy to provide a ferreter with good nets that will not fail out in the field. a small profit and regular happy customers make our jobs worthwhile. like albert we are happy with what we get and do not like to rip people off and also offer a money back guarantee.we make good nets for people to catch rab
  10. remember 1 ferret has little legs and like us dosent like to work all day without a rest!
  11. spun nylon very thin usually used in cheaper nets, long nbets and gate nets usually available in 4-10 z not ounces the z in the nylon is the way it is spun together. spun poly is available in a variety of colours and is 4 strands braided together and it has a breaking strain of 120-140 lbs. it is better quality than spun nylon and doesnt catch up as much debris whilst out in the field and tangles less. spun poly nets are better quality than spun nylon
  12. we chuck the remenants of the ferret runs ( dirty straw and everything) around the chicken shed as we were inundated with rats last year.........so far one rat since september. though it was an old wives taiul but it works they stay away
  13. spun nylon comes as standard it has 120 - 140 lb breaking strain and is available in various colours. it is easier than hemp to maintain though nets sold as 'hemp' are actually a poor quality flax and this is what causes the quick deterioration of the nets if not cared for proply.the lighter the spun poly the less chance of the rabbit rearing uyp before hitting the net as they only see a light grey colour opposed to a dark black on the darker colours. it handles exactly if not better than hemp and does not need the high maintanace that hemp does
  14. keep them seperate and introduce them slowly mabey just after feeding when there bellies are full so they can get used to each other.but i have one that has to stay on her own as every time i put her in with the others she bites them and kicks up a stink!
  15. better off using sheet netting or ready made - for all there is people who make them you got to consider how many joins are in the net and how the net will weaken if one of the joins splits
  16. its ok for cutting nails but i have heard of quite a few ferrets not liking the smell and ferretone is costly.
  17. read the net post at the top of the page
  18. went out yesterday with my mate who is a good lad but i always seem to get the rough end of the ferreting game. he was safely ensconced on one side of a fence with nice flat land with a couple of holes, whilst i got lumbered with the the rough, trees and 10 holes on my side. put the ferrets down and low and behold rabbits started to bang up through my burry holes. as i bent down the blooming rabbit came at me full belt and launched itself straight at my eye and wallop it blooming hurt. the good side was that i got the little b******d . as i had that one between my legs another shot into anothe
  19. i get £1 each but the butcher sells them at £2.50 i think this is fair and it gives people on low incomes a chance to get reasonable priced meat.another factory along the road offers £1 each but he turns them into exclusive burgers at £6 for 6 burgers that is a rip off and i refuse point blank to take them to scam merchants that are profiting off other peoples hard work!
  20. this didnt work and i cant delete it!
  21. 5x 6ft black braided cord fox nets - in total £35 including p & p
  22. aound £60 for the hob to have a vasectomy will sort you for a number of years opposed to jill jabs at £16 ish per ferret per season
  23. all my ferrets are outside - make sure there is plenty of bedding to keep them warm and once a month i disinfect the cages with dettol a weak solution as this kills any bacteria that may be around and dampens the smell!
