this is what i found googleing forest polecat!

The European polecat (Mustela putorius), also known as the black or forest polecat (as well as a host of other names), is a species of Mustelid native to western Eurasia and North Africa, which is classed by the IUCN as Least Concern due to its wide range and large numbers.[1] It is of a generally dark brown colour, with a pale underbelly and a dark mask across the face. Occasionally, colour mutations, including albinoes and erythrists, occur.[2] Compared to weasels and minks, the polecat has a shorter, more compact body,[3] a more powerfully built skull and dentition,[4] and is less agile in

what makes you think that?

There are alot of so called EU's about, people think if there black then they must be EU's. 1974 the first true EU was found, apparently in north yorkshire.. i don't no how they proved this was a true EU.. but that is how the black ferrets with no white mask came to be known as EU. Then you have your Dark Polecats (not Black) Dark with a faint mask. This could all be aload of boll#x but this is what i have come to know over the years.

These EU`s that you`ve got,, where did you capture them ?? cause if it was in the UK,, they are ferrets,, cause there is no chance that any ferral ferret in this country has not been contaminated by domesticated ferret blood, ! but then how would you know? cause they are all just ferral or domestic ferrets,,DNA testing would probably come up with no difference you might find a purely wild animal in "EU" land,,but not here . Are you lot throwing these threads up just to do my head in ?????? Rake aboot i have no intention of doing your head in.. In actual fact if you must no, our E

A wee hint for you mate, go back to the beginning of this thread and read through every page before you ask another question on eu poleys, wild polecats etc and that will give you an idea of peoples opinions ps if you can make any sense of it and come out the other end without being totaly confused let me know A wee hint for you mate, go back to the beginning of this thread and read through every page before you ask another question on eu poleys, wild polecats etc and that will give you an idea of peoples opinions ps if you can make any sense of it and come out the other end -
I have a few pair of EU's a work, along with a trio of dark polecats. I don't find any different work wise, as Ideation says... I find that the polecats are much easier to handle, and i trust them more. The EU's are well knowns for their biting and latching on.

Where have you been? He's not the first and I'm sure he doesn't make as much money from his ferrets as ferretland http://www.ferret-land.co.uk/ I don't see any reason to be a ferret breeder unless you really love ferrets because there's no way you can care for a litter well and still make a profit selling them at £10 each. I bred once for myself and will never do it again. I gave away all but 2 of the kits. Ferrets can be good pets but this is not a pet forum and breeding for looks has already produced some sad looking ferrets with big price tags. Angoras would get covered in dirt if t -
@ferret mad dave - Back to the original question though, I gut em and throw them in. a few friends of mine prefer skinning them due to the risk of fleas. So each to there own really. Do what suits you best mate

birth certificates for ferrets right thats fkn it I keep them so i can keep on track of blood lines and so on... I know it sounds crazy, but its the way i keep a file on all the ferrets i breed, and have done for many years, between me and my grandfather we have 46 years of experience in breeding ferrets, keeping birth certificates, is an easier way of keeping track on what we breed. So laugh all you want bud but we are well known for the line of workers we breed, only breeding when we have certain homes for em' too. And the way we keep track of the blood lines works a treat, believe -

No worries lad, we all get carried away in the heat of a debate now and again. These places are great for debate and it would be a piss poor world if we all shared the same opinions. I did get carried away.. and went slightly over the top. -

See that? That's where you've just lost your credibility. Call it youthful exuberance or whatever, but you've just boasted to a bloke on an internet forum that you can almost guarantee that your ferrets are superior. Now, you don't know the fella from Adam, and the UK is a hotbed of working ferret owners. In your (narrow) mind you obviously think what you and your grandad do is superior to anyone else in the UK. That is a very blinkered approach to life & in my mind show's you up either as very naive or very inexperienced. ..and to top it off, anyone who can call themselves a 'rescue' -
