I've never tried pursuing foxes from a vehicle on the lamp as the terrain over which I shoot is very hilly and bumpy. However, I've often, like last night for instance, had foxes come in to the squeak and have had them near enough to take with the shotty. You seem to do ok with your method.

England seem to have the sign over the Aussies at the moment in World Cups. Just watching the All Blacks now...Is there anything to stir the human emotion better than those All Blacks doing the Hakka? ...The french were about two foot from their faces, eyeballing them. Great stuff, lets hope for a good game.

£2.50 postage...cheeky fecker! It's unusual for the seller to put his address up isn't it? "The Holy Grail". Simo, what will your collection of Fr***s  be worth in a few years time?

There is an excellent video available, showing how to use the traps successfully AND safely.

It was a toss up if I watched the Welsh game Pat, the "Batman" film from the sixties was on the other channel., Adam West and Burt Ward as the dynamic duo....Batman won! "KA-POOW", "THWACK". Good luck to those from the home shores that are left...they'll need it.

First of all, I'm indebted to all the Masters and huntsmen who have the balls to still turn out every week and continue to rub the noses of this government in the hounds shite, because without that kind of stirring attitude, I can't continue to turnout...no hound meets and I might as well do a Rip Van Winkle, so thanks for keeping going. I live in hope of a repeal...but only in hope. Out for a lamp now with Baldie.

I'm just west of there and I've had phone calls from a few lads about this earlier, so ears open and eyes peeled.
-
First of all Jasper, to get the coppers attention, tell them there's a few lads with a badger tied to your fence with a dog attacking it...that should get them round before you've put the phone down. A word with the local druggies, who will need the money, will do no harm....

That's a good review Sindasox, thanks for that. You could do worse than to use one of the more well known walking named boot like Berghaus, Scarpa, Raichle or Meindl . With those calf length boots the research and manufacturing needs to be looked at again I think...they're ok for standing around in posing or driving, but bollocks when walking miles in heavy weather and crossing streams etc. There's some good reviews in the walking maggies for 3-4 season boots. "Altberg", the name sounds good, mighty and strong, but it's not everything.

Yep, he was a great fighter. That era was a good one...Hearns, Haggler, Duran etc from abroad and Sibson, Minter, Mcguigan and Honeygan from over here. They've all entertained me.

It's on its way shitter-in-the-ditch.

Something we don't need but on the other hand a quote from my local free anti rag this evening has got me perplexed. A letter from the ARSEpca about tail docking and the law, the letter ends..." The society believes that a total ban, such as that introduced in Scotland, should be brought in and that docking should be permitted only after the tail has suffered serious injury or disease". A bit late don't you think to save the animal from pain and distress! Surely prevention is better.....

Stick a new fanny belt on her and I'll have it, (keep the old one, it'll do for gat elastic).

I hope I'm wrong then.

Whitser, I'd say that the "Fur, Feather and Fin" book on the Partridge will be the most valuable, though don't get too excited. I've seen them go for about £25-£30 in good-good+ condition, for a first edition. The one you have looks like it would pass as a good or a reading copy only. The other two books look in poor condition and don't ring any bells with me as being collectors items or sought after. I'm sure similar copies could be picked up in better condition for a tenner or so.

Levs, I have the test to hand and the Borneos are not listed simply because they are the equivilent to the Burmas except they have no Gortex lining, so the difference is negligible but the quality the same.
-
Jasper, the Meindl Burma Pro MFS finished 5th in "Trail" walking magazine reviews in April this year. The reviewer admitted that "there's nothing really wrong here", meaning that no fault could be found, so why they ranked them only 5th best is beyond me. The price you paid was a good one. The Meindl Borneo Pro MFS don't have the gortex lining but are of just the same excellent quality. I've an oldish pair of leather Scarpa walking boots in the shed that'll be climbing a fell tomorrow and they've done me well over the years. I don't know why more fieldsports guys don't look towards the walking

Not everything runs smoothly with PayPal. I've just been in a minor dispute with them over something I bought. The money was taken out straight away and transferred...but to where? It never arrived at the shop I was dealing with. Talk about being frustrated. It's really tough when there's no one to speak to, you're only in touch through emails, and you're waiting for a reply...and waiting...and waiting, that's the maddening thing and it's stressfull! Eventually, I was told that PayPal and the shop had "a wrong link", whatever that means . Never had any trouble before this latest incident thou

Sorry I can't be of help SJM, and going slightly off topic, but I read last weeks copy of the CMW today in the newsagents and noticed that there was a litter of Borders going for £500 a piece. And they hunt fur AND feather. While not in the HPR league or even bog standard retriever/spaniel league (brains), these pups are fetching all that dosh, while any of the latter mentioned are going for less. Is it the pedigree people are paying for or the working ability?

Well, that's those sorted out and the "review" section has done its job once again . Sorry to hear that Maty, the ones I got from Chelford farm supplies are the plastic type and have been ok. I very rarely wear them these days, they just sit in the back of the car for emergencies. They're unbreathable and suffer with moisture but I got a hole punch into them down the inside of the leg and that's cured it. I now wear the pull on Sprayaway gortex type for out on the tops. They sit nicely in a bag that fastens to your belt. Sorry I couldn't offer any help Grover

You need something like these "chaps" http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WAX-LEGGINGS-STUD-ON...1QQcmdZViewItem . I can't vouch for their claims that they're waterproof, but these can be cut down to suit the leg. It's a shite photo, they normally look and fit better than that, they're are too low. Alternatively, any good farm shop will sell the plastic equivilent, which are ok.

BEST JACKET WINDPROOF WATERPROOF FOR AROUND £150
cragman replied to sureshot's topic in Hunting Boots & Clothing
I got one of these a while ago, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=220112761717 and it's the dog danglies! Superb in really bad, wet, cold weather and 100% windproof. I've also got a good Aigle Polombe jacket that's excellent. A couple of mates had the Deerhunter stuff and they've binned them. It looks pretty and sounds good but doesn't do the business in hard weather. -
The show's being held behind the Ford Inn, which is a few miles outside of Holmfirth on the A635.
