  1. Maybe I'm tight, but I tend to leg it to the downed bird and throttle it. I could put the barrel over the top of the net I guess, but not through it. Cheers D.
  2. Welcome aboard! I left Lincs back in 1990, and in the last few years seem to keep getting new friends (through shooting and field sports that way). Wildfowling on the wash, culling hares near Spalding, pigeon shooting by invite etc... I love shooting bunnies over ferrets (bolters of course!) so if you need a hand, let me know Cheers D.
  3. Like the tagline sighthound1811! Withnail & I will live forever "Just look at Geoff Wode!" D
  4. A fair question with some responses inevitably a bit OTT in my opinion. Indeed, tbh, some respondants really should wind their necks back in! If you are proper rat arsed whilst in possession of your shotgun, then frankly, yes you are asking for trouble. However if you are having a swift half on the way home and your gun is locked in the boot of your car, then I don't see a problem. As you mentioned walking and having it locked in the publicans cupboard, is he an sgc holder? If he is then again, I don't see a problem. Likewise, if you can see where it is locked away and therefore can sup
  5. Very tidy bit of kit. Nice! D
  6. Hi 123hw80, About an hour before sunset - get concealed in the shadows with good face and hand cover and waitfor then to land in the trees aroun you. Keep movements to an absolute minimum. Good luck D.
  7. Myxy will come and go. Populations can go from almost nil to rife in a matter of a couple of months. Harsh winters seem to spark off outbreaks around me more than milder ones and my own theory is that the coneys spend more time in bunnies swapping fleas that carry the disease. Also, when populations are very dense, myxy can go through the lot like a dose of salts. Frustrating, but we're stuck with it for now. I'm lucky inasmuch as I have a few permissions, so if one area goes through a bad spell, I usually have at least one productive site to go at. If you can get a few permissions it puts
  8. Cajun is good too, as pigeon breast cooks very quickly - like kfc but about 100 times better
  9. If only I was in the market! Good luck with the sale D
  10. As you've already had some lessons, I'd recommend a couple of rounds of sporting clays to get your eye in. Also, when you're decoying pigeons, start off sensibly and only go for those that are commiting to your pattern which are the easiest ones to hit. This will boost your confidence and waste less carts. As you get more confident, extend the range and angles you are going for the birds at. One final piece of advice from a distance: remember not to look at your bead, the rib or barrel. You are a gun turret with a shotgun, where you turn your head, the gun turns with you allowing you to sw
  11. I'll take you up on that offer!!! LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Anything by 'The Eagles'.... I'll get my coat
  13. 'Greek Phil' - 'What would you like my avatar be,? A pair of jiggling boobs, or a camel toe...' Yes please - something jug-tastic.
  14. No it isn't - brought over from South America where its found in the Brazilian Cottontail. For them it is really just a minor irritation, fatal to european rabbits (orytolagus corniculus). D.
  15. Nice one! Good to see young blood learning the ropes - my youngest is the same age Cheers D.
  16. Still offering European Bison? Shame on you.
  17. roosting pigeons with an airgun makes challenging and fun sport D.
  18. Personally my favourite cart for pigeon is 32g of 6 1/2 (Eleys) and I am very confident of clean kills with this load. That said, my eldest son was using 29g of no6 which did the job just fine. If you're looking for a cheap load, 28g of 7's do the job, but you have to be realistic on killing range - say 35yards max. Doubtless someone will say 7 1/2's are fine out to 50 yards but that's obviously BS in my opinion. Cheers D.
  19. Not quite Shakespearian, but we get the gist D.
  20. I love pigeon shooting and I love sex. But I wouldn't pay for either. D
  21. Welcome back - where have you been? D
