  1. thats the one buddy that spot where they are is not very far from me, i have it on dvd it came with a book i got, the lad just gets the dog out and it all drops down was a close call that lol
  2. thats a good bit of reading pal, its rescues like this why the fell and moorland was formed, its a fantastic thing to be in if you work this kind of land, the best tenner you will ever spend lol
  3. in after vol 2 of it but its sold out, its a cracking book if your into your hound work. there is a lad on here that works a lot of rock and he gets big numbers but i dont think he has been on for a bit, iv seen a pic of him on a rescue in rock 30 foot deep they had to get a massive 360 in, if he comes on he might put the pic of it on,
  4. try back lads try back, its more a book about hunting and the fell packs ill sort some pics buddy or maybe its a harcombe book thinking about it, ill have to have a look
  5. its not so much as digging more moveing! think of it like rubble, spades stay at home and the iron bar is the tool for the job, if its gets bad then highlift jacks and ropes, even pogo hammer and jenny to go thru solid rock back in the day they would use exsplosives yeah like old frank buck himself. i have a book here with some good pics of him in the rocks and the old type fells he kept
  6. nice black and tans pk how they bred?
  7. thats it mate its a different game isnt it
  8. yeah them big dogs are not the best you want a dog with a nice thin chest and shoulders on them i have a bitch here thats no wider than 5 inch in the chest im always a fan of trying to wait for the dog to show and start to dig as a last resort, you only need a small rock to slip down when trying to get down and block the dog in forever
  9. its just what your used to really, i bet just as many dogs have been smothered in sand earths than have been lost in rock, most good dog lads know there land and know what is safe and what is not, there is a spot near me that my old man showed me that the fox pings out with no problem but yet not 200 yards on the moor there is a real bad spot that has claimed the life of a few dogs over time, and for the times things do go wrong get on the phone to your local fell and moorland rep lol
  10. like david said in some places if you dont work rock your not gonna get on to much, there is still a lot of lads who still do the piles and get on a lot of stuff, i have done a fair few with my mates dog in the rock but on the other hand we have had to dig him out more times than i like, and going down 12 ft+ in rock is not easy. we have been lucky you only need to come across a stone you cant shift and its game over. my old man worked rock for over 30 year and only ever lost one dog, he mostly worked buck or cowan dogs some might say they was bred for working the rocks.
  11. and dont forget the classic kes lol
  12. ???? ??? How can you only have a dog ? You mean they live under a bridge with no food or drink? i think you know what he was getting at, whats a dog man with out dogs??
  13. that black terrier looks a lot like a terrier my mate got nicked two years ago you got a better pic of it?
  14. bloody hell how much brass are you on if you can call a hundred pound cheap lol
  15. hes been on line i checked the other day i pm ed him as well after a 2 part spade, the mans missing out a on a lot of business lol
  16. i do the same, dug a monster back end of last season a real good hill fox that really tested my little bitch. i couldnt kill such a fine specimen and let it run in the hope it would breed his size and gameness into a set of cubs, didnt think no more of it until i was on a spot on the same patch of land the other week and broke through to my mates dog at 3 ft at the shape end of a big old dark dog fox that was bringing the fight to my mates terrier, lifted the dog and had a look at old red and im 90% sure it was the same fox i dug last year, any way dropped my bitch in the same spot been that
  17. any thoughts on the terrier side of things, what kind of terrier would be better in the mix? if i was wanting to breed a bushing dog i would like to look into finding a good bedlington terrier they would add a lot to the mix i think.
