  1. Most of my shooting will be done on sheep farming land. How would you guys recommend setting up the decoys? Is there a certain pattern to use do they need to face into the wind or anything like that?
  2. I know that nearly every village in Wales has a pack of hounds. I remember my first time invited down there the first morning we must have seen at least 2 pick ups with hounds in and a hound trailer.
  3. In from very close to we're this Fox has ment to be spotted and iv never seen them they alseem to be spotted in a urban built up area as well
  4. One thing i can be sure of in this game nothing is black and white. One mans dog will not suit another man. you can't compare one scenario to another. That's why I never judge or knock another man's dog. Lots of parts of the UK you will find Fox in places that can't be dug. So to that man your dog that stays till dug is no good at all. Like i say things aren't black and white.
  5. Interesting to hear different lads views on this. Some good posts
  6. Fooled you all. I'm Johnny bluck
  7. Everyone likes there own thing. I went out with a lad for a few seasons who had a few hound x's they was good little hunters. But for putting things out to the runner's they wasn't the best there hounds at the end of the day they would pick up a line that a Fox had run maby maby 5 hours or maby 5 mins ago, They would start to speak and the fox would be seen braking out of the next patch of cover when the lads are watching the first.
  8. Each to there own. I don't want game slipping away 300 yards away in front of me. Like I said each to there own
  9. Don't think there's many that open up mate, better off with a beagle spaniel with bushing , surely a quiet dog better , as dogs opening up, only pushing game out early , any fox or rabbit wont hang about with lot of noise , they move up and out before you dogs or guns are there. ive seen lots of birds, rabbits and the odd fox pushed out with good springers , and deff with rabbits they seem to hang back more than a fox or birds, springer quite and does the job quick/ silent and gives great sport . another good busher were border terrier seen few of them on shoot days good little
  10. I know vin, an he a good guy, get yaself over mate, if i was free tomorrow morn id be on his case just now haha I would do don but my dogs would be more interested in trying to take the horses down than the rats
  11. That's what I was thinking. For all the people he has ment to pissed off he still doesn't mind showing his face
  12. The guys a tryer I'll give him that he's had loads of ventures from books to websites and shows, bringing back the borders. I don't know the guy so i cant judge. But he's defo keen to be a name the fella would be better just getting his head down and working his dogs
  13. That's very impressive. How fit was that old fella as well that hammer would have took some swinging. I've seen similar methods used on rescues but it'easy now to get access a stillsaw. Funny this should come up we had a rescue a few months back in a big rock pile. But luckily one of our members has access to a lot of tackle saws brakers that sort of stuff and we got the dog out. And the conversation came up about how the boy's like Frank Buck got on in the old days and the answer is there skill and determination and a bit of TNT haha
  14. It's the lack of respect for old Charlie that gets me just to be dropped by the road side cowboys and just left to rot with out even going over to see if it's a dog or vixen. Now the antis will not understand this but true dog men do have respect for the Fox. But o well you can't educate pork can you.
  15. I wouldn't mind taking up crow shooting/decoying but I don't have a clue where to start tho. Any info tips would be great
  16. But yet this would be fine with the antis. If I was a Fox I'd say bring back hunting I would rather take on the hounds over the rifle lest I would stand a chance
  17. I don't get what people get from doing this type of shooting. There's no field craft needed what so ever. It really sickens me to think lads can call this sport just wiping out populations of Fox. It's a real same things are going this way.
  18. So be it bud, but I stand by my views that people breeding for looks and not working abilities ruins the working terrier breeds. There working dog shows bud not crufts
  19. At what point did I say that. I said only working dogs will be placed its a working dog show. Did at any point did I mention anything about scared dogs? That's your words not mine bud
