The biggest issue we have is that others on the roads just don't know are speed limits and that all the big firms wagons are tracked and flag you up on screen if your speeding, single carriageway max is 40mph,dual carriageway is 50mph and motorway is 56mph and that is max limit as all the trucks are limited to 56 but some are limited as low as 50 for lower insurance rates.I think you can still be done for using the mike but coppers discretion and the cb is great for traffic issues. Still annoying though isn't it? I bet a lorry that can do 56mph on a motorway gets f****d off if they get stu

Personally I'd get a bond first make sure he's fit enough for the job in hand make sure recall is tip top then get him out.
-
Is that on a permanent contract? The agency I was talking so say on average their drivers invoice for £1k/week on a self employed basis... Yeah
-
ADR and fuel work is around the £40k a year mark on good jobs but there rare and usually have to wait for people to die
-
I love the stones but they were shit really disappointed

Lol cheeky fecker!!! Jon was that kid at school who was huge at 12 and had a full beard really nice lad always wanted to be a keeper

Good post, stobarts killed the owner driver and believe or not ex drivers started VOSA.Most owner drivers have to run bent to make a living its a hard game. My diesel bill alone was over £1k a week at 0.80p a litre on bunker price!!! Chid I drove a old Foden with a 500 cat lump in it in 1st fully freighted it damn near wheelied with the amount of torque

The 525 was without doubt the best lorry I've ever owned it used to be ERF's own show truck and only 150 were made in its spec full leather all singing and dancing,my pal still owns her but she made europe flat but sadly all my old pics have gone as women are vindictive gits only pic I've got of one of my trucks is my old Volvo at a show. Don't forget about the fodens chid good motors them but if the brothers didn't have a row we wouldn't have the Eric Russell Foden
-
Done that I started off working for farmers, the first truck I bought was an ERF (ive driven loads in fact there my all time fave lorry and had to be prized out of my latest one to drive a poxy merc)and I bought another in Luxembourg to do the continental in a left hooker 525 14 litre Olympic that had aircon.Yep I can moan mate coz apart from car transporters and F1 I've done most of it in my time, your dad may have done it but you haven't.
-
Anyone got any DVDs from this fella? I went to school with Jon and would be intrested to see what there like.
-
Air con helps keeps you cool So basically your numb and nothing fazes you? Your a better man than me then when some Doris pulls in front of me in the gap I'VE left for safe stopping with a car full of kids and puts me in the position where I may have to go through her motor as they've anchored up that gets me going.

Haven't bought or looked at a copy since they published a large article about grassing lurcher men up in it.

No mate agency work is the pits here Sussex isn't a hotbed for haulage and self employed driving atm is to risky.I'm a chef by trade and have a small catering firm specialising in spitroasts for high end events but I'd like to build it up to full time but its seasonal and am trying to get the catering on our local shoots during the season to make it year round work. Yeah that is the problem, demand is localised. If you are prepared to move for the work, I have 3 agencies fighting over me at the moment in Bristol. If you stay in Newark over the winter, you can invoice over £600 per week,

We are mate who else keeps the brasses numbers down?

Yep I'm desperately trying to get out of it now got no love for it now at all,the cars I've got used to all of that but it the people with a car full of kids playing chicken with me that really bothers me!!!!No what really gets me revved up is cyclists and horse riders on country roads.........when horses start riding bikes I'm handing my tickets in!!!
-
Utter rubbish but most of us has front and rear cameras now which makes a massive difference when it comes to the blame game when it does go tits up if your in the clear its bonafide proof as it records speed, location and records front rear and sometimes sides if fitted and SD card is instantly viewable at scene. But there are some cowboys about as in any job.

There is a lot of country road's that i travel regular and so do the hgv's and i have lost count of the amount of time's i have been forced to pull of the road with these thing's tear arsing toward's me.. with them making no attempt to slow down..and on the motorway slip road's they don't wait for a gap they just force they way in regardless of who has to slam there anchor's on behind them..aswell as went they want to overtake they just pull over with no regard's to who has to slam there anchor's on yet again..Regardless of that they should get point's like we do for using our mobile phone's..

I've always had a rig in the cab whilst on distance and continental work got me out of alot of bother with directions(pre satnav) and road issues also vosa check points, there still popular bits of cab kit regardless of being old tech. Surprisingly alot of skirt had them around trucking hotspots looking for a bit of company while the old man was on night shift lol Millet we all had to drive to the limits to keep up with the unrealistic targets set by some twat in an office who's convinced it's doable coz "it's only that far on the map" but never done the job himself.
