  1. Funny you should say that, i'm moving up to ingleby Barwick on 29th of this month, if i haven't got rid by then i'll give you a shout. Geoff
  2. Lol, I used to live there when I was stationed in Catterick, never a dull moment, loads of Barrat homes now built in my old street..
  3. Due to moving to a smaller house I have a double chest freezer for sale. 2 years old good condition, ideal for storing rabbits/game. £30, can deliver111 within a 30 mile radius of Tidworth for cost of fuel. Inbox for details. Cheers Geoff
  4. First I've heard of that association. Our government has been elbows deep in a lot of stuff , but first I've heard of that one. I think he's referring to the collections and fundraising that took place amongst the sympathetic Irish American communities there over the years, but totally got his facts wrong by saying it was America doing the funding.. Anyway, this thread is about remembering the thousands who lost their lives that day. Even the conspiracists can't argue with the fact that there was a huge loss of life, so on threads like this they should hold their tounges and
  5. I personally think that America's "War on Terorism" is slightly hypocritical considering that they funded terrorism in Northern Ireland for the best part of 30 years. Just my opinion, but surley hundreds of innocent people died in NI at the hands of terrorist organisations funded by the USA piling money into "The Cause"which was something that they didn't understand. 9 11 happens and we're all expected to suck them off.....
  6. I have 4 daughters and was over the moon when they were born but I think i'll be even happier when some poor sod takes them off my hands!! Wouldn't change them for the world but it's been an emotional 20 years!!! Congratulations....
  7. I've had a look today and there are loads of clubs around, they go out tooled up with radios and GPS and stuff. I reckon the initial outlay could be around 1500-1700 quid but once spent will last a life time. I'm due a pay out from the Army in December so f**k it I'm going to treat myself for the 19 years of shite!! There's some good fish being caught all over the country. I'll obviously have to blag the Mrs on the cost!!
  8. Thanks for the replies, got my eye on a few sit on kayaks which aren't cheap but looks worth it to get to those marks that are out of reach from the shore. Good fitness without the running costs of a boat, I think I'll go and have a look over the weekend.
  9. I'm moving up north in the next few months and thinking of getting a sea kayak for next summer. Does anyone on here go kayak fishing? I've had a look and it seems quite popular around Whitby/north east.I've done quite a bit of paddling but never whilst fishing!
  10. Does anyone here know an old fella called Bill Young, he used to to a lot up around Gunnerside. Done mole control as well. Just wondered if he was still around?
  11. I know that the well recruited Corps are no longer recruiting foreign & commonwealth soldiers but for units where the recruiting is poor there will always be a back fill of ethnic minority soldiers. They're on about using contractors for logistics etc and greater use of the TA and reservists. A lot on commonwealth people I know done their five years, got their passport and left the service as a british citizen but on the other hand, a lot of them are in for the long haul. It will be interesting to see the state of play in 2020 and how well we cope with commitments flying at us left right
  12. Probably do a bit of driving in the meantime and moving up Darlington next June when the kids finish school, thinking about laser tattoo removal, need to cost up the courses and look at insurance etc.
  13. I applied for it in Jan because I was in the bracket so it's not a surprise, I thought it would be better to go as a volunteer than spend the next 3 years worrying if I would be next on the hit list. 6 months to do...
  14. I've just been accepted for redundancy after almost 19 years in the Army, 77K and an immediate pension. Been watching the news ofer the last few weeks and it's not looking good for a lot of Regiments with amalgamations/ possible disbandments looming before 2020. Pension changes in 2015 can only mean our soldiers will be f****d over even more. I feel like a weight's been lifted from my shoulders, can't wait to start the second chapter with my wee family...
  15. Kit sold - to be collected on Sunday this week...

  17. I've just applied for redundancy from the army after 18 years service and if accepted could be out by Dec this year. I've got a class C licence and will have about £3500 to spend on courses for resettlement so am looking into getting a few more driving qualifications. Is there anyone on here who drives for a living who could give me a steer on useful licences to have or is driving on good money a thing of the past? Cheers
  18. Take it you wer,nt impressed then? lol
  19. Does anyone on here run one or a cross? Loads of people have saluki crosses etc, just wondered what other not so common sight hound breeds people work and what they are like. Basenji, sloughi etc. Just out of curiousity
  20. I was out today and out of 7 caught, 3 had young when I cleaned them.
  21. I joined the Army as a stop gap almost 19 years ago, only meant to do 3 years. Wouldn't say I've enjoyed it but it pays the bills, and there are worse careers I could have chosen.
  22. Shifts at work have changed so I don't have as much time as I would have liked, but will keep her here until right home comes along.
