  1. I sell mine directly to a local cafe just up the road from me for £2 per rabbit, gutted and skinned. Pays for the .22LR ammo
  2. Scrap FAC air and stick on .22 rimmy or if you prefer, have both
  3. I have an opportunity to buy a good condition Wildcat Predator 8 moderator for £75 but the only problem is that it's the wrong thread size. As I understand it's quite easy to convert the threads but I'm not sure how much is costs. My questions are: 1. I understand the mod can be taken to bits. What's the name of the part that needs to be changed and how much is it to buy new. I've had a look at the Wildcat site and found a part called 'Bridge' - is this the right one?: http://www.shopatukcs.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=&products_id=2072 2. Do you think anyon
  4. This really is an easy decision Just buy a HW100, I wouldn't have anything else if I was in the market for a PCP
  5. Nice one My Annie 1517 would put bullet on bullet at 100 yards in calm conditions as testified by my videos.. Funny thing is, so can my .22 CZ452
  6. That looks more like it You should be stacking those shots at 100 yards with a HMR
  7. I've just applied for .223 and .243 and also asked for my ticket to be opened. I was flatly refused an open ticket due to having my FAC for under five years and slapped with a mentoring condition No need for DSC for me though, providing there's deer on my land I'm good to go
  8. What ammo are you using? Give the Eley Subs a try, very good ammo
  9. Bloody hell Dan have you not snotted one yet!? Good luck, sounds like you have one hell of an accurate rifle!
  10. Personally I feel shooting the HMR past 200 yards is irresponsible. Even the V-Max bullets don't expand past these ranges and instead drill a .17 size hole through whatever they hit. If the target is a rabbit, chances are it will bleed out slowy. Don't draw any similarities between a .177 pellet either. Travelling at much slower speeds the soft lead pellets deform much more than HMR ammo, causing more internal damage
  11. Good stuff Celtic, I'll be off out with the little .22LR tonight too
  12. Sorry no, the largest centrefire I can use on the golf course is a Hornet
  13. Thanks lads, I will definately want to reload in all of my centrefire calibres! In fact I've just finished building an outbuilding in my back garden specifically for that purpose: Taking that into account, would you all still agree that .17 is the better variant? Charlie Caller if I do go for a Hornet I'll have to tap into your reloading secrets because I've read that you are fond of the Hornet when it comes to reloading.
  14. Well the FEO has just been round and granted me .223, 243 and either .17 or .22 Hornet but I'll only be able to use the Hornet on the Golf Course. Slightly disappointed but can understand why. The bottom line is I can only afford one rifle and with the majority of the fox issues being on the Golf Course I feel I have no other option than the Hornet. What's the general consensus of the Hornet calibres and which is considered better .17 or traditional .22?
  15. Provisionally sold subject to the usual
  16. Go for both, you dont have to buy them both at once, you have until your ticket expires, and then some get a .22-250 instead of the .223. I've asked for both! Too many choices, I might just ask for .22CF to be added so I can decide later. Why .22-250?
  17. Nice one Hutchey. I've got the FEO coming round today to discuss my variation for .223 and .243. Just need to decide which one to go for. Not on Deer yet so may just plumb for the .223
  18. Been using the .22LR for a few weeks but took out the HMR last night and bagged these two. I'd almost forgotten how good it was for popping the rabbits That said, the .22LR is more than capable and I need something better for the foxes. Sorry for the picture chaps, I've had to 'smudge' the photo as it might be seen as too graphic Also nipped onto the golf course last week with my pal and his .243 and .308 which he only planned on brining along to zero after he'd just bought it. Here's a couple of snaps of two foxes shot with the .243. We shot three altogether but I won't show the on
  19. I have decided to move into the world of centrefire and as a result I've had to decide to sell one of my rifles to fund a .223 which will serve as a better tool to control the ever increasing fox population throughout my area. Reluctantly the rifle I've decided to sell is my Anschutz 1517 in .17HMR. Background Information I purchased this rifle secondhand from the Countryman of Derby a couple of years ago and had lots of enjoyment with it. The rifle has accounted for plenty of vermin and a couple of foxes and has remained pint-point accurate throughout. As some of you may know I h
  20. Heard mixed reviews on the Savage, I understand the Accutrigger to be very well regarded. I could be persuaded to part with my Anschutz 1517 HMR for the right sort of money
  21. We shot a fox over a valley on the golf course last night using a .308 Now that did make a bang!
  22. I suppose the difference is Celticrusader, they have nothing to protect. I soaked up the culture and had a great time but left feeling empty. I don't think having completed studies in Ecology and Conservation helped. You really do start to appreciate the diversity of the wildlife in the UK. It's a fantastic place to live. Edited to add: on reflecton I suppose the NZ'ers have more of an emphasis on protecting their landscape rather than other animal species. Possums are particularly destructive. I shot 160 whilst I was there.. They destroy woodlands for fun!
