  1. I watched that mate! One of the most intresting programes iv ever seen. How clever was that collie lol
  2. Unbelievable!! It's like back in the playground. Who gives a f##k what someone else does or works with there dogs. If you go out with earthdogs only and you have a good line that you always use what does it matter if someone from the other end of the country who you will probably never meet anyway wants to take them for rabbits or rats or whatever. I use my terriers for HUNTING!! If someone has a terrier doing 100 foxes a season, (a good bit more than I could). I DON'T CARE. I concentrate on what I do and what I get enjoyment from and If everyone else would do the same they'd probably be alot
  3. Why height and chest span is he? Does he get to ground easily? Just a bit Doubtful with no trial tho
  4. If it does the job il have it!! No matter how ugly or how showy. Iv had a few crosses but wouldn't discriminate any because every dog is different with different temperaments. If the proper time is put in and is entered properly an it won't do then that's not to say none of that type wont either.
  5. Has he been digging or been dug to? How many has he had? Whats the reason for the sale?
  6. Does anyone use chudleys working dog?
  7. I heard something about using a pinch bar? Fairy new to this game so all I kinda kno about just now is the modern ways. Thanks get your ear to the ground and listen for any noice from your dog, baying, bumping, etc, and were you can hear it loudest you dig and just hope your ontop of the dog
  8. Can anyone regimens a good complete food for terriers? I am feeding chudleys worker just now but it's making there crap a bit runny
  9. How do you do it without a locator out of intrest?
  10. My dogs are not greedy dogs, I feed them when they get in from there evening walk but they just pick at it till the next morning even then there's some left.
  11. Iv tried the sprinkling of salt but there still coming in along the Walls! Driving me mad as the food bowls are covered in slime every morning. I heard fill a bowl of beer and sit it next to the kennels ( where dogs can't get to it obviously) the slugs are attracted to it and, they drink round the edge and fall in and drown.
  12. September for me, out tonight and checked some earths but no scents or nothing. Still to warm so there out and about making the most of it.
  13. a good daytime hare course got me most excited, I'm that sad that I dreamt about them every night before going the next day haha. After that I would say a good nights lamping on the rabbits then daytime hunting up foxes. The deer never really did it for me but if I bumped into one tho I wouldn't hold the dog back
  14. Pre ban for all the guys who had the all rounders, your dogs took all quarry, what got you the most excited? A good nights lamping for rabbits? Seeing your dog firing into foxes? A good hare course or a good day out for the deer?
  15. Hi Vixen, Are you willing to part with one copy of the book, I would be interested in buying. P3D. Edited to add; Jumped in too quickly, maybe obi2 would wants a copy, its his post. But if he does not, I am still interested. you asked first p3d so you are welcome mate. thatks for the posts about the books, iv got 3 borders and i love reading books about working dogs, makes it a better read if you own the type your reading about. atb
  16. Haha that's what I like to hear, mine stood at 22 inch and very lightly built. Got it for rabbits but after it's first encounter with fox it couldn't care for rabbits again! All it wanted was to catch foxes!!
  17. I think the deerhound cross was quite popular for foxes
  18. What crosses, types of lurchers or sighthounds have you seen or owned that destroyed foxes and fired right into them that had no bull in there make up pre ban? I had a whippet cross collie grey that was crazy for foxes, didn't really have the power itself to kill them and took a bit of punishment but never dettered it
  19. By the sounds of it I would wait a bit mate, iv not got a great experience with deerhounds and I hear there slow at coming on. If you have the patience then hold her off but still get her out watching other dogs on the lamp, you never know it might just click after watching a couple of chases and catches. I hope it comes good for you bud.

  21. Mate years ago I had a lurcher with a bit of deerhound in it, she was just a pup around the same age maybe older when I took her round my mates garden where there was a rabbit in a hutch. She went up and had a sniff, the rabbits back leg started scratching it's ear quickly and the lurcher shit herself and bolted straight out the garden and off! I eventually got a hold of her again and I rightly took some stick for it (I'd do the same) and still do occasionally. When I thought she was mature enough I took her out lamping and she caught her fair share of rabbits but there wasn't much of a drive
  22. Seen a few jackers with this cross, as you said decent lampers and iv heard some are handy with foxes but when it came to daytime hares there was none that were worth talking about from my experience.
  23. For all the guys who own this type of dog what's the most hares your 3/4 has caught in a day pe-ban and how many runs before you had to call it a day? Iv seen a few run them and it is exciting to watch to start but they faded away quite quickThe guys that had them didn't have them peak condition so I was just wondering what the case was for the guys who have got them proper fit. Edited to say during the hunting season.
  24. Been at it a good few years now but much prefer hunting on permission. You can concentrate on the dogs more and hunting than looking over your shoulder all the time or going back to the car and it's been damaged ( which has been regular). Those kind of things put me off a bit but I couldn't give it up because there would always be something missing.
