  1. Here's mine, Gypsy... 13 month old, I've purposely held her back. I've felt she's not quite been ready mentally so working her too early may have ruined her I felt... I've had her lamping once the other day and i think the waiting game payed off. Retrieve back to hand, steady on the slip, infact walked off the slip at times, no hunting about after a missed rabbit. I think if I tried her earlier I wouldn't have had all this.
  2. Good pics. great Keswick through the day. Spent a lot of time there these last few month. Only a few mile from me.
  3. I'd imagine his answer will be for a bit more strength , seen a lot of whips take foxes but struggle to hold them, seen one whip/bull work ever on a fox and was more than capable of dispatching his quarry. pretty much it , in a nut shell. He is a is only a rabbit dog at the end of the day. He made short work of that one but I've seen him struggle on stuff before. A.t.bbe a handy dog a bet, out of good stock it seems which is half the job done for ya. Good luck.
  4. Can't beat the collie x... In fact one of best dogs I've ever seen work season after season was a 5/8 collie. Never had top gears but has relentless stamina
  5. Can't knock it, and dogs are looking very well. Credit to yas
  6. Tried to pm u Taff, but won't let me.
  7. Hopefully my next door neighbour will have another rabbit pie for weekend. My favourite is pigeon wrapped in bacon though.
  8. Looking good taff, looking forward to seeing all the pups hunting together.
  9. Spot on, I got a rabbit for my next door neighbour, he made us a pie. And made a blackberry pie which he picked the fruit just near our house. They were both really nice.
  10. I enjoy the story about the big reds best...
  11. My kind of dog is Don. In fact i'm off to look at something similar this week hopefully work out for you. Hopefully he will pass his traits on when he lines my bitch swift. She should of broke over the summer but never. Typical. Toughness, hard, Reliable, honest... There the traits that made up for that missing top gear he never had.
  12. My dads dog,,, DON. 5/8 collie in the mix, and he's no thinker... In fact total opposite, he was a kamakazee type dog rabbiting etc, full on, no reverse. Took everything aswell, and done everything, from ratting, ferreting, lamping, beating, digging, etc etc,,,, The Dog had a broken leg has a pup, and lost his eye to a kick from a beast later in his career which stopped the lamping had it made him blind in one eye...he's still doing bits on the fells and mooching about but not as much nowadays.
  13. Class, ya done some good ones there. That's cat bells in that pic on the right.
  14. Where is that Frank?I know I've been out with the Blencathera far end of the valley on the left, hounds were away on the fell opposite side... ran one in... looked a dodgy spot! that pic was taken a top of dale head via cat bells & high spy. Cat bells is the hills starting on the right and I ended on the hills going down on the left. Kinda like a big horse shoe walk. Was 12 mile round trip, and on this day was over 30 degree. Was hard graft but worth it.Thanks for that mate, I'd got it wrong! I though that was Great Dodd at the far end on the right. Never been up cat bells or Dale head, w
