  1. Tell me something and ive been away from the Forum for a bit so excuse my ignorance . I remember there used to be many Working Dogs for sale on here , we were always strong on attempting to expose Puppy Peddlars but where have all those Dogs gone ? Occasionally on the Pets4Homes site I will come across something that is clearly owned by somebody who knows about Working Dogs and is or has used the Dog for sale in that manner . Is it simply the Dogs for sale have gone where the big money is being paid ?

I was saying this to the mate when he was talking of getting shot of the Defender . After a bit of searching we came across this beauty , find another as they say in the car trade .
  7. Fair comment but take a look on that site I just posted and you can see the sort of money being asked and in some cases there isnt much difference . Does anyone still give away Dogs of any kind nowadays ? I remember there was a time when websites like Gumtree were full of the obligatory " Staffy free to a good home " adverts , oh for the good old days .

  12. Dont start about prices , there is any amount of money being asked for any amount of shite . The Days when the bloke on the boat next door would knock on the boat and ask if you could give a home to a free JRT pup are long gone
  13. I spoke to a Lady from Kent a couple of years back who was in the process of Breeding American Rat Terriers which were relatively rare amongst those of us who work dogs . Out of the blue this August I got an Email from her asking was I still interested , apparently she had sourced semen from Europe and her Bitch was confirmed Pregnant . Sadly I have heard nothing since and a bit pissed off I sent her an Email this morning to which I haven't yet had a reply . Anyway she was telling me that she has a Plummer which is very aggressive and she can do little with , I was tempted to say f**k the

  17. I agree with everything you say about the needless breeding of dogs being the problem skycat, its just the neutering of my Parsons that was a bit hard to take as what is his neutering proving anyway?my responsability as a dog owner? Thanks for all the comments.
  18. I know a lot on the forum wont entertain rescue dogs for various reasons but again it often comes down to what you want the dog for, even before we get into the ethical questions of puppy peddlars, the amount of needless breeding etc etc.A fare proportion of these terriers Jacks in particular have just bolted from their owners for whatever reason, ive recently lost a Jack through a hit and run driver and ive yesterday found myself in the following position. Terrier Rescue based near Gatwick have a couple of Patterdales and after going through an application process that made it easier for a paed
  19. I know the subject has been done to death but £375.00 for a spotted Jack with the "chocolate gene" on Pets 4 Homes these peddlars must be putting their money into Jacks because of the low interest rates.Look out for chocolate Jack in a Range Rover driven by some fuckwit near you soon.
  20. Thanks Swag, I will watch out on the site for one, theres some crazy prices being asked for some rubbish.
  21. Rik,I was really interested in what you were saying about the different characteristics of the Patterdale and the Russell,I have a Parsons and a Jack that was recently killed by a hit and run driver. Our main quarry was rabbits the Jack did the bushing and the Parsons would stand at the edge till they were flushed and with the longer legs he would bring them down in full flight, they were a great team and none of it was down to me. Im now thinking of a Patterdale to work with the Parsons,is this practical?I just had a right "pisser" with loosing the Jack and being an amateur id welcome anyones
