  1. Thank you very much for the offer, but we do already have something lined up now, thenks to some help from a person we met through here. I hope she isn't PTS, and that you keep her as a pet/ratter! Thank you again for all the help people.
  2. thats what this site is for to promote differant types of hunting , and maybe help people along the way this may be alien to you to terrierman: a) you cannot import a dog to the islands uner 12 months old for your info we've had some great helpful people give plenty of good advice from on here c) if it was all theat simple I wouldn't have posted on here in the first place to Gonetoearth: exactly...the advice offered on these forums has mostly been great. Cheers for all your help, you're a star! To anyone else reading this: This thread had actually been pr
  3. If there were any sent out then it would have been to the 2 outer islands which have introduced fox populations. Apart from those there are no foxes in the Falklands...plenty of rats though! Being such a small place we did enquire with those who have terriers (there are a couple of borders, a yorkie and a few JR) but all of these are neutered/spayed pampered pets! Terriers aren't really thoguht of as working dogs here as the mentality is for sheep dogs only (and much of what is considered the signs of a good working dog comes from a load of old wives' tales)!
  4. Cream legbar chicks are very easy to sex. The males we call lemon heads as they have a lemony yellow splodge on their head. Look up some pics on line if you need help. Also I find the legbar roosters not too bad, and they are still pretty small compared to the likes of a sussex or RIR rooster.

    SAMA82

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone on here served in the Falklands in 82 or is a member of SAMA82?
  6. Some excellent points here on hybrids. We bred a number of pure breeds as well as some RIRxBarred Plymouth Rocks. Personally out of our pure breeds I find the cream legbar to be pretty prolofoc layers and the gold and silver campines are fantastic little birds for regular laying throughout the year. But the RIRs and then the RIRxBPR are excellent. Our worst are probably the wyandottes followed by the loveable Buff Orps. We also find that the RIRs and the RIRxBPR are excellent hatchers but the poure BPRs are often addled or the chicks just don't have the vigour to get out of thei
  7. Just a quick bump incase anyone may have missed this who can offer advice
