I know that badgers will probably eat them whole, just saying that theres people out there who get joy from stuff like that. As long as they are ok though, im not really bothered.

an update is. The polecat is great, its gentle doesnt bite or even nip it eats plenty, drinks plenty and comes to the hutch door when i open it and waits for you to pick him up then he climbs all over my tshirte tc and is by far the funnest of the two, it also seems to be a bit bigger then the albino. The albino used to nip but after having the finger technique done a few times it doesnt seem to be doing it as much its only bit me once in the last day and a half and even then it was more of a nibble. It seems to sleep allot more and isnt as playfull its the one that is a little bit sma

well at the minute theyve got a bowl of dry kibble and ive seen them use the water bottle so im fairly sure they are using it properly when thirsty. I also gave them some frankfurt sausages to munch on. My grandmothers making a sundays dinner tomorrow so ill get a slither of raw meat off of the joint for them. They seem ok though, the polecat doesnt really bite and seems fairly friendly it plays and gets hypo to the white one though seems to be a bit more bitey and wants to sleep all the time it also seems to bully the brown one when its awake. yeah i know but like 1 pound worth of tuarine would last a good 6 months+ thats all I asked for as 1 pound isnt very expensive. lol

Just feed them Kibble over the Summer months and an egg between them once a week. If you want to treat them, get some cod liver oil to mix with the egg. After a long time of continued ferret ownership something I have learned is that you will never find all the meat and flies will lay eggs in blood stains. Personally I don't like to keep maggots in my ferret hutch. You will learn. John BTW. Allot of these ferret treats ive seen seem to flaunt that they are rich in taurine as does the pastes etc and a lot of food. Anyway since allot of these treats etc are like 5 pound for 30g (not that im bothered just saying) you can get a 100g bag of pure taurine for like a pound. Would it be good for the ferrets if you gave them a tiny pinch of taurine in with their food? doing that would be like 0.01g at most so im asuming that thats not to much. So anyway, do you guys think that this is a good idea? getting a 100g bag and giving them a tiny pinch in with their kibble? cheers.

Ill probably feed them what i get when working them but at the minute its just ferret kibble and meat. Did you get them from good stock ? apparently the parents are both workers, talked to the bloke who i got them off apparently he goes ferreting fairly regularly.

If they are taking the lumps of meat into their sleeping area should I remove it on a daily basis to avoid maggots etc?

will do, theyre currently sleeping. The white one seems to be the boss though it was biting the polecat and stealing its sausages it also has a biting problem lol.

ended up getting my kits. I got 2x jills 1x albino and 1x polecat. theyre tiny. Ive put them a dish of meat down.

ah nice, the ferrets that im meant to be getting are in spennymoor also but he said he doesnt know what hes got left and will have to tell me a bit later in the day. If that falls through Ill have to go to bishop, its not that far but obviously the same town will be easier. If I do get them tonight then Ill probably feed them some chicken and egg or something. Im sure ill learn what they dislike soon enough.

thanks col, i originally thought august was the soonest but ive managed to persuade the grandparents so I can get them now. I was also going to get some off dotty in a couple of weeks but I cant wait that long as im fairly excited to be honest lol. But yeah im only in spennymoor like I said though I cant keep rabbits in the freezer or anything else like that as my grandparents will put their foot down since its their house. my hutch is plywood but looks like it would absorb stuff. knowing my luck itl absorb all the ferrets crap and stink.

glad to hear ye got sorted mate, most meats will do a ferret, but i honestly find whole carcass feeding is best, is there no way ye can get hold of rabbits or any other dead pests???? Unfortunately no. I say getting but its a 90% chance id say. Someone I called said to call tomorrow night and go through and someone else in the same town said theyd let me know what theyve got left tomorrow so hopefully the one in the town will have some I can get if not ill have to hope the other guy has some .
