    Yes agree with above. I have cleared the ferals from my local permission with my hw97kt and i have had alot over penetration so be careful. Also a sun shade on the scope would be good because i found i could see the pigeons up in the rafters but once i looked through the scope i struggled on sunny days

    So basically I have permission on a large area right on my doorstep and the landowner has a contractor to poison the rats on the dairy farm but there is an area around the slurry pit that is never poisoned. I have laid a fenn trap in a decent tunnel but the bait regularly taken but doesn't catch anything so it seemds mice might be taking the bait or very clever rats. There are definatly rats there on the opposite bank of the slurry pit because I can see the burrow holes and have seen rats over there. My question is, because I can't afford night vision, would it work if positioned my red led

    Just for the record I didn't actually believe the rats stories but rats and mice not living together did sound believable because of the rats taking the food mice eat. I went there tonight and the bait was gone again so layered some more peanut butter on it. Another one my mate likes to say is when snow is forecast he says"my mate down the forest said there will be 3 foot with 6 foot drifts" then we get sleet. When Richard Hammond crashed his car he said "my mate down the forest saw him just before it happened and was driving like a twat then"

    Is it true that mice and rats will NOT be in the same area as eachother? My friend at work tells me this but he also reckons his mate once saw a rat with no eyes being led around by another rat with a piece of straw in its mouth and another time his mate saw a rat on its back with a chickens egg on its belly and being dragged by its tail!!!

    Went to check the fenn trap tonight at dusk with the air rifle to wait for the rats but on checking my trap i found all of the peanut butter has gone from the trap but no sign of any rats. I was thinking maybe slugs or other insects. Don't think it would be mice because the trap is very sensitive

    Thanks everyone. I have set it today and cut the holes on one side at opposite ends and positioned it so that there is a route through it and not just an open space with a trap in the middle. The farmer already has a contractor that lays poison but the slurry area is left alone so there should be plenty there. The bank is lethal though and I wouldn't fancy a dip in it to be honest

    Thanks for that. The web pages will be fine. I have a domain name already and I managed to get a friends consrvatory website onto page 1 of google so I am quite confidant at ranking quite high. Just working on pricing now, using 5 other companies as a guide for equivelant pests

    BPCA? Killgerm tell me I don't need to but it is a well recognised qualification. They tell me I need to have basic insect control, safe use of pesticides and rodent control to start operating and charging for services. The last place I want to end up is on rogue traders

    Ok, so basically I am looking at branching out from just trapping moles, rats and rabbits and actually trying to make a go of being a pest controller for a living. I already have a job so am under no pressure to make a success of it but I want to do things properly and get some training. I am looking at killgerm and their courses but was wondering what other options were out there. I know that getting an entry level job would be best for experience but at the moment that wouldn't work for me, also there are very few jobs out there.     Thanks. The hills are all quite fresh by the look of them. The local church asked me to sort their moles a few months back and set 5 traps and raked all the hills and didn't catch a thing and no new hills came up but they thought i did a great job. I can tell that these hills are much fresher and to catch on the first night is good surely

    Hi, I've been asked by a local in my village to try and trap the moles that have wrecked his garden. I have used a tunnel trap and 3 scissor traps and on the first night (last night) caught one in the tunnel trap. There are approx 25 mole hills ranging from small to one massive one and I wondered how many moles were likely to be in this area? The garden is approx half an acre and all of the hills are in roughly the same area ps Trap was straight out of the box and not weatherd

    I had the same trouble with me Hawke nite eye. No matter where I positioned it or swapped the single piece mount around it was too low on max elevation. I made a thin shim out of some aluminum and placed it under the scope on the rear of the mount. This raises the back of the scope up and the cross hair down. Scope is bang on now

    Find the warren, get there before it is light and lay up, down wind from it and wait. Good luck but personally I don't shoot hares at all. The farmer that owns my best permission doesn't shoot them either but it is up to you. Good luck

    Firstly, it isn't going to grow out of it. My Mrs let our staffy jump up to her so he thought he could do it to everyone. Very embarrassing when it's wet out and he plasters someone in mud. This link is a bit crap but it has some good advice, also search for dog whisperer or ceaser milan.
