  1. Afternoon. I have a 3/4 greyhound 1/4 kelpie 20 months old. It is the best lurcher I have owned however as I have taken on new work commitments over seas I have no longer the time to look after her. It is a shame to keep a dog of this quality and not get the use out of her. I am just outside Lisburn NI. If anyone is interested in giving a her a good Permanent working home then please PM me for more details. Cheers.
  2. Hi Mate.. Where abouts are you?? I am In lisburn..

  4. Just picked up a pup of cooklands, he keeps fantastic stock!! Pup now 16 weeks, extremely clever and very bidable. Great to see the old line still being bred!
  5. I used concrete and rubber stable matting for the sleepin area! Great stuff!
  6. I have first cross, not out of this breeding but, at 18 months this is his first season, @ 28tts looks big mature dog but still has a few puppy traits about him. Lifted a few rabbits an a long ear, he Is coming on really well, but I will not start him on anything more challenging until well over 2yrs , IMO these dogs need alot of bringing on and the more easy catches you give them to build confidence the better they are. I think deerhound is a fantastic mix for working lurcher, they are a well mannered all round sound dog. But I suppose it's all about the time ur willing to put into them. Atb
  7. Cheers man, I have two hobs here and it would just save having to separate them when they are older.

  12. I have a pup that picked up an injury and had to be restricted to a crate for two weeks. I got some advice to change her diet to help with recovery. I started feeding her raw chicken wings and minced beef small amount of brown bread and some grated carrot. Her condition completely changed, coat is shining she has put a bit of weight on, she is only doing a quarter of the crap, and she has completely recovered. I really couldnt get over the change in her. The big dog has just been changed over. I would recomend this to anyone, It is a bit more hassel and slightly more expensive but well wort

  14. Hi I am looking for a bit of advice. I took posession of a new pup 4 weeks ago. She had an accident last night when playing. Not totally sure how it happened but judging by the bang sounded like she hit the trailer. I took her to the vet because she couldn't put weight on right leg, and was clearly in alot of pain. She stayed over night and got x-ray thankfully not broken but has compressed growth plate. So he gave me anti inflams and told me total rest for a week. She is still in alot of pain. Are there any supplements which I can give her or anything else I can do to help her make a fu
  15. Hi Yea I have one of similar breeding, 1/2deerhound 1/4collie 1/4greyhound. He is now 17 months I was in the same situation as yourself, They are a very laid back pup and dont take kindly to strong repremanding. Mine still walks to heel when we are out, but as soon as he gets a sent he turns into a different dog. I didnt see any of this until he was a year old, He has a very high prey drive and is facing cover well and will jump anything infront of him, I had my doubts at first, but be patient, I wouldnt change him for anything!!
  16. Thanks very much lads for the advice, id say he is just too hot judging by the comments, he has a serious coat on him. All the best and I'll keep you updated on his progress! Cheers

  19. Hello to you all. I am new to this site, I have kept lurchers for a few years now mainly collie crosses. I have a young deerhound x collie greyhound he is 15 months old, He is a brilliant dog , fantastic laid back tempermant but has a high prey drive. I have just been doing a little rough work with him with my friends terriers at the minute until the season starts again, and I am conserned about the dogs stamina. He will have three or four good runs and a bit of rough hunting on his own and he is ready to collapse, If put back on the lead for 5 mins he is ready to go again. Meanwi
