  1. I dont have any photos but when I build a hide I try and make it at least two nets thick, normally including a stealth net. A background is also important because when you get up to shoot your bird if you have sky behind you everything will flare away straight away. The times when I've felt the most camoflaged when pigeoning is when My hide is built against a hedge and the sun behind me as you are pretty much invisible then. Also you have to think about space for you, your dog, lunch etc hope this helps a little bit atb Ratty
  2. im no expert but the coat looks like a cubs coat...maybe he was a slow developer?
  3. couldnt you trap/collarum and just despatch before it gets light?
  4. im no expert mate and im sure someone a bit more knowledgable then me will probs correct me but i reckon your stock is too long. either way the escorts have adjustable stocks so nip down the gunshop you got it from and ask them to give you a hand/some advice setting up the stock - its not that complicated to do. Essentially you want to have a gap of about 2-3 fingers (depending on how big your fingers are) between your nose and the ball of your thumb length wise and then if you stand in front of mirror and mount gun with eyes closed and then open them if the fit is right the bead should be in
  5. hello mate, are you sure your gun fits you because from what your describing it sounds like it doesnt, full choke probably doesnt help, I shoot with half in my escort and use anything between 28g 7.5s and 32g 5s. check your gun fit because a 410 is going to pattern much tighter then a 12 even with full choke as pretty much all 410s are fixed at full to make up for the relatively small amount of lead in the air. atb Ratty
  6. looks like you had a pretty good day mate, well done good luck for tomorrow
  7. nice bag mate, what do you do with the scalps?
  8. heres a couple mate http://www.guntrader.co.uk/ http://www.gunstar.co.uk/ http://www.gunmart.net/guns_for_sale/ http://www.gunwatch.co.uk/ there the ones that I often have a browse on guntrader I would say is the better out of them hope that helps
  9. as long as it wasnt too recent and wasnt violent you should be ok...depends on the police force as paulus says, give your FEO a buzz hes there to help not to stop you getting a license
  10. nice shooting cookie dont know about up your way but there seems to be hardly any acorns on the trees around our way, my theory is that where last year we had so many acorns all those waspy things or what ever they are that lay there eggs in the acorns bred so well last year that this year they have nailed all the acorns
  11. just put em out in a random pattern mate, there's no set pattern!!! thanks mate may give the corvids a go at some stage atb Ratty
  12. Nice bag do you bother with much of a pattern when you decoy crows, or do you just space them out lots?
  13. as above, just take a small handy torch for when you have to reload magazine or you'll end up with about four pellets in the magazine backwards and half a tin on the floor
  14. nah its just where you hit it fairly flush to the curve of its skull...if that makes sense... basically where the pellet hit the bone fairly flush it tore a lot of it away instead of penetrating tidily as usual...if it was significantly high enough to make a difference the hole would be cleaner you might have to clean the patio though :/
  15. Mine works perfectly fine with everything I use - might get a jam towards the end of a 100 bird comp occasionally when using 28g 23/4 " carts but other then that it's sound I shoot charlies with 50g 1 shot 3" carts and they cycle spot on, the only time that Ive ever seen it suffer was using 2 1/2" cartiridges and it jammed 3 times in a 50 bird shoot, but tbh even with the 2 1/2" carts it wasnt that bad its only a jam in the field might mean missing a chance or two and in a clay shoot you get pair again, but for the price I personally dont think you can complain too much
  16. Dare I say it but my hatsan escort doesnt give me any problems....but i seem to be one of very few with this view
  17. more out of interest then anything else but how do the compare when working?
  18. Im sure there is a decent article article on it somewhere on the forum - it will be of use
  19. just go into a decent gunshop in your area and they will give you a hand...if possible take your friend who shoots with you
  20. so if you replace your 223 will you have to change your name to TWOTWOTWOFIFTY?
  21. i wouldnt do it day after day, and you should move around a bit because they will learn but you could still shoot regularly on the same rough area thats not coming from an expert mind atb Ratty
  22. .22lr for bunnies but you will need something bigger for fox - .223 is a decent fox rifle. If your after one gun to do both .17 hmr might be an option depending on your licensing department. If in doubt dont be afraid to ring your feo he will always be willing to help and what he says pretty much goes atb Ratty
  23. tbh your better off finding an equally nice looking 12 bore and you wont have to pay as much and you'll do better with it...and if you want to shoot with tight patterns just stick full and 3/4 choke in
