  6. hello mate, there is an article on them in the snaring, trapping and pest control FAQ sections, have a go with them, i recently caught my first couple, they work well once you get it right, just keep tinkering til you find something thta works for you atb Ratty

  9. Well after seeing the rat spring snare design on here I thought that I'd have a go because the rats had figured out the times at which i lamp them and im not staying up till who knows what hour to get a few skanky rats. So I got all the stuff and after about 2 weeks of tinker time, fiddling, about 25 yards of trace wire and who knows how many crimping sheaths I had my first success thismorning and he wasnt a bad sized one either. dont think that the fact that ive hit them pretty hard with the air rifle and lamp helped my chances but the run which i set on I only noticed yesterday afternoon and

  11. the end with the exposed metal would need to be filed smooth and re-blued to stop it corroding, also dont forget that by chopping the end off you will be losing all choke so might be easier to get a gunsmith to do it atb Ratty

  19. I think that his license should have been removed earlier - he had a stroke and wasnt in any condition to continue shooting so there was no need for him to keep his guns privately. if his license was suspended and his guns either had been held or if necessary sold for him then he would have time to recover without risking an incident like this. Unfortunate as it is, a little more care from the force in question would have preventing this from happening. Thankfully only Lucy Cope seems to have paid any attention
  20. that last kill was a good looking fox to go with a cracking shot nice hunting
  21. I know the feeling all too well had to change my laurona 12b about 6 months ago and saw ca nice camo hatstand and suddenly the pros of reduced recoil, adjustable stock, added camo for the odd charly and here I am saving for an O/U to avoid the dodgy looks at the gunclub but not wanting to lose the semi.... plus ammo and parts for other guns and new 410 and now im about £600 down from what should have been a straight swap...oops
  22. You sure it wasn't a sparrowhawk? no deffo a kestrel - surprized me at first that they would take on something as big as a woodie but it was a kestrel for sure
