  3. Yeah, bein able to work him this season is a bonus! he will be better treated with me and have a decent working life. Thanks for the advice.
  4. I put frontline flea stuff on mine today, should I go out and get the tick one aswell?
  5. I agree mate. It is a weird one but he's here now. Didn't want to leave him with them divvies that I got him off. Thanks for all the help aswell. Appreciated mucka
  6. His balls ain't out but you can feel them, stil not mature. I'm no expert like. The vet said he was around 4 months so i guess he must be right. I've got 9- almost 10 week old kits and they could sit on my hand when i got them 2 weeks ago and now they're catching up with him, in the way of size and they're getting agile now. Edited last post to say he was definitely young a not mature. You can just tell by holding him, he's not built like an adult would be. My 16month polecat was big and heavy and his structure was strong. The young lad ain't, he's still light and my built. If you get me
  7. That's what I thought mate. When I got him the woman said he was 9 weeks old which I knew wasn't true, she was trying to feed me a load of lies and told her I knew he wasn't as young as she said he was. She tried blagging me and I just took the ferret and got to f**k. I thought he was around 13 weeks but went the vets on Wednesday and he said he was around 4 months. His balls are there like. Gettin him done on 4th July. Forgot to say that he is still very young, you can tell, he's very light, and soft. He's not as built as other hobs yet. Cheers
  8. I keep my ferrets in the garage, it's cool in the hot weather and warmer than outside in the winter. I open the windows to let the breeze cool the place. Good idea about the water bottles though
  9. thanks for that. ive been putting them in the run together to get to know each other. the jill and the young kits are getting on fine. found them asleep together after i left them for an hour. the youg hob is getting on fine with her now, he just wants to play and the jill is learning to stand up for herself now. she was alone for her whole life so she mustnt have played with other ferrets. i had them all out last night on the flowers patch, they were having a great time digging, and scratching about. they were playing with eachother and the young kits were even having a go. im really happy wi
  10. I think I've almost cracked it mate.I've been putting the Jill and the 4 month hob together for short periods of time and playing with them. Over the few times they have been together the Jill has started standing upto the hob who isn't being nasty, definitely just playing. I let the 2 young hobs, the 4month hob and the Jill out in the flower patch and it was such a rewarding experience. They were all digging, playing about and play fighting. They were all chuckling and nipping eachother and running away. Even the 9am jobs are giving it a go and getting stuck in, they're getting big now, more
  11. My dads mate makes sticks. Infact, he makes everything, birdhouses, birdbaths with houses and feeders on them, too much to name. He was big into sticks when I was gamekeeping and I if we went out lamping he would be like- ooh look at how straight that Hazel branch is, I'm having that for my sticks. On shoot days when he would beat he would collect all the antlers and then saw stick 'head' size prices and put them in a box in his loft. He would collect lots of branches and keep them in his chicken shed, lay flat with some old hessian sacks on them to stop the shot getting on them. He sad that t
  12. my mate told me this morning, he bought 9 crates-£33. too bloody late telling me now!
  13. i was just going to put her in with them but the older hob might be too playfull and as she doesnt play back she will surely be getting pissed off. she doesnt mother them shes just ignores them, she likes her own space i think. shes been on her own for 4 years
  14. You think there will be ferrets for sale? I might just do that and post the pics up here. Surely they shouldn't be selling them at a show?

  16. Thanks, she's brilliant with the 9week old kits, found them sleeping together in a cardboard box full or shredded paper. The other hob is maybe a bit to energetic for her. She's really lazy and too soft for her own good with him

  18. I'm just curious if anybody has seen any big cats while they have been out or got any pictures? There was a rumour going around the estate where I used to live that a big cat was seen on the crossroads by a police man. The gamekeeper I worked for said he had seen something eating a deer and went to see and it was gone but the deer was ripped to shreds. Also the head gamekeeper was out shooting and says he seen what he thought was a small black cat walking between some shrubs only to find out when he had shot a fox not far away that it couldn't have been a small cat because it was small trees,
  19. I've gt 3 young ones now and one 4 year old. If you keep handling them they will be easy to handle later on. Are you keeping them together?
  20. I heard something about them being dodgy, turns out that it was something to do with ferrets being sold/bought. I'm going to go an suss is out
  21. My old ferrets went bald when I gave them too much raw egg. don't know what's in it but a little bit is good for them and too much makes them bald.
  22. Hi guys, I was wondering if anybody is going the ferrets show in alva on Saturday? I know it's the wrong time of the year but I've not been to one before and I want to go and see what it's about. Cheers
