  1. Only ever had 2 dogs , first bitch ive ever had so its knew to me cheers mate Was like that with my deerhound - had bitch's all my life and never once came across it, untill i got her.
  2. Looking at your last replys - i'd put it down to both, the wierdness will be down to being post seson - my deerhound bitch gets the same its like a depression, they dont want to do anything basicaly - except with mine she half starves herself personaly i would get her on that type of ground more often, like i said start during the day, let her gain confidance and give her time.
  3. After a season some bitch's can go a bit off kilter and this can affect them, some people call it post season blues, (basicaly its down to hormones) can last up to a month with some dogs. On the other hand - have you always ran her on flat ground, if so it could be inexperance, in that the ruff/bumpy ground feels different to her, she may find it hard to run that type of ground and loose her confidance, if this is the case, it may help if you take her out some times during the day, let her have a play around on that type of ground and let her get used to it.
  4. Have you tried Traveleze pastilles - they worked for my brothers dog, were as nothing else did, she would be slavering as soon as the car started to move, it wasnt that she was travel sick it was stress causeing it with her, as she would poop and pee in the car as well, She was given one of them tabs about 30 mins before we put her in the car, took her out for the day, she was in the car for near enough an hour and nothing, she was the same on the way back and actualy slept.
  5. So just because shes a "pet" does that mean i can not work her ? or do work her. And why shouldnt i come on a hunting forum - if im intrested in hunting.
  6. Being a great dog is no reason to breed from any bitch, there are thousends of great bitchs and dogs in rescues. my deerhound is a great dog, fantastic temperment etc, some of her siblings and her sire have done well in the show ring, ive been asked before to breed from her and i know i could get homes in a heart beat - but she will never be bred from no matter how much of a great dog she is - because there is no reason to breed from her other than shes a great dog. What about when she gets older then.......wouldn't you like to have a pup from her is she is so good and others will b

  13. My first beddy/whippet x grey was silent - never heard that dog even bark, she had poor feet though. My current one - beddy x whippet/grey, is silent up to a point, the only time ive heard her bark when out - was because she was frustrated, she was playing chase with my other dog at the time, when shes been on a rabbit - shes been silent, comes stright back to me if she loose's it.
  14. He's still a youngster and probably just needs more training, toys are totaly different to the real thing - once they catch then instints(sp) will kick in in that what they are catching is actualy food and thats what they was bred to do - catch their own food. If you've only trained him with just normal toys, then he's not going to realy know that he has to bring that rabbit back to you, what i would have done, is once you get the rabbit off the dog - and youve dispactiched(sp) it, have a play, tie the lead or what ever you have round the rabbits legs, tease the dog and throw it out
  15. Seriously for a moment junior - may i ask how old you are and how long have you owned dogs of any description, working or not ?
  16. Sorry but thats just given me the best laugh yet, been having a crap few days - thanks for chearing me up. pmsl
  17. he works the ring like a 5 year old, also had 8 rabbbits "daytime" the dogs to young mate at least 2 year old how can you say hes to young hes very mature for his age and is well up to the job Because he has only one season at the most under his belt and that's being polite... Verdict = UNPROVEN i know of lads with dogs under that age that have retrieved a fox and those lads claim fox dogs???my lads been to stud so i class him as a stud dog Just cause your dog has been on a couple of bitch's dosent mean its a stud dog, a proper stud dog needs to have proven itself wo

  20. No wonder the countrys over flowing with dogs, with idiots like these around
  21. Speak to the kennels and ask will they take your pups if they have been titre tested, if they will - then speak to your vets about these. http://www.vetsonline.com/actualites/detail/38433/fda-approval-for-vaccicheck-kit.html they are sold in the uk, how much your vet would charge though - i couldnt tell you but they should be cheaper than having full vacines again. Unfortunaly even if you did still have the sticker and put them on a card, unless you have a signature from a vet kennels still wont accept them.
  22. Wash them in water in the sink - then rince them off under running water.
  23. My beddy x is picky with her food - she eats very little (probably the amount a small breed would eat) but she keeps her weight well and is full of energy. If the pup is full of energy and not looseing weight, then i wouldnt worry to much about it, if you start chopping and changing food, everytime the pup dosent eat, all's you will do is create a more fussy pup.
  24. Nope its not a common problem, mine lives with 5 other dogs, and has ran out with up to 10 other dogs of all sizes, from a parson terrier up to a 32" deerhound, only time she would ever have a go at another dog is if they try to take anything high value off her (in that instance she would give them a warning first) or if they go for her first, but even then she would try to submit first, before she had to fight back.
