i think in the past there where plenty of good terriermen and with out them we would have nothing , this game has never suffered because of good terriermen, only from the fool wrongly classed as terriermen, and the fools are far easier to find look at it over the past 20 years on the internet seen some right 5 min wonders turn up post photo no one needed or wanted to see , years ago i seen the same things at shows smashed dogs on display as a young kid knowing no better i wanted one of these super hard dogs i'd read the working terrier by plummer got it for my 13th birthday and only a patterda

i am now a lot older than the men i classed as old timers when i started , many of the big names around my area where poor terriermen , the only good thing about some was they could use a spade ! i went out with a few when looking for my first pup , i think the most terriers i saw running around entering some staying was 12 , but amongest those men where some good ones single handed terriers , calm men gentle with their dogs and quarry, i remember one calling round in the early 90's i had a young dog that was a real handful and to be honest as dumb as they come type of dog that would latch on

this is my bitch tink only had 7 goes to her she got her nose split in half fist time out , made her careful she is in no way a hard bitch and for many she is a little to careful a good foot away when you get to her, but i'm not worried a ancestor of hers started the same but after 2nd season she was always attached at the break in and rarely knocked about , i've been in it to long to want dogs who look like they lost a fight with a chain saw , so its fingers crossed

Some well known lines have been led to ruination by breeding towards the bitch side mate rather than the dog that created her .Some will undoubtedly dispute it but its the dog that keeps up the work ethic . A decent bitch is a decent producer but keep looking to her and the line will fade . bit like the chicken and the egg as very good dog came from a bitch and if you line breed to that dog you are also line breeding to his dam, mine are based on one bitch who just happened to be out of a dog and a bitch

it will come to you it will come to me , 30 years ago i once walked 15 miles to a lamb killing meet, walked for 8 hours following hounds and then had a 1 hour dig walked 10 miles back to the van got dropped off and walked 7 miles home , 20 years ago i worked the dogs 6 days a week some times multiple in a day , had two digging breeding partners jack in that time, and now i still like to work a terrier but soon i'll have to think about the dog they wont be wanting me letting them down, went out with hounds yesterday i used to do a bit with 30 years ago, a lot of young terriermen about with the

its all well and good posting it here and i agree with it all ,but your preaching to the converted and maybe a anti or two may take some notice , no they wont , people need to get up to speed sites like this is not where its going on Facebook is where the terrier feds need pages and members putting people to task about the photos they are posting publicly condemning them myself and other who post here do this,Mr Cashmore pulled some one up for keeping there dogs in filthy conditions just the other day ,but it would be better coming from people from the federations, lets shame them out of the

Amen to that although i think his job is going to get harder every year , every so often some wanker makes a remark on face book page (maybe a anti) about how no one working there dogs right, and the next thing there is whole pile of photos which should never of been taken never mind posted all over the place , with these muppets there bullx, terriers and quarry all covered in blood ... they will hack it a season or two f***ing up the sport their battle cry being f**k the ban .............FU(KING MUPPETS
