I bought the 316 marine grade 1 x 19 s/s cable, it was perfect for my use. I think that S3i will sell a 1 metre length, so it's cheap enough to buy a short length to see if it's suits your purpose? Their video explains the stiffness of each cable.

I use a NM800 IR with the normal and a XSearcher head and colured LEDs, mounted on a Taclight adjustable mount. I also have a Wolf Eyes Seal, which is superb! Regarding a lazer,i've never used one, so i can't comment, just a thought, they maybe good for range finding? But your quarry will know you are near, BEFORE you are near enough, especially if you are using nightvision, it defeats the object of a stealth approach? On the other hand, it is difficult sometimes to judge distances at night though, so the Lazer, may help? ATB, Digby.

For air rifle distances, you may not need too much power or lumens, a dimmable beam is preferable + colured filters or LEDs, maybe a Lenser P7, you can buy a gun mount kit for it too, also check out www.taclight.co.uk, speak to Tony,he will advise you on suitable options, maybe an Olight M22 Warrior kit ( this contains coloured fliters, remote switch and mount, or the NM400 or Venom? Taclight sell a good adjustable mount. I have never seen one,so i can't comment on them, maybe check out www.ludicrouslumens.co.uk - T20,T50etc. Decide also, what batteries the torch uses too, some use AA,AAA

I forgot to add, i prefer the LSD ( Low Self Discharge ) batteries, as they retain power for longer, % power after a year once charged + unused - whereas a normal rechargeable battery will loose all its power a lot sooner.
-
I highly recommend Panasonic Eneloops LSD batteries and either a Technoline BL700 charger, i bought mine from Battery Logic or a Nitecore digicharger D4, from Torch Direct, both are really good places to buy from. I always take a spare set of 4 AA batteries out in the field. Working time depends on what they are used in + how long. Up to 500 or 2100 recharges, so good value. ATB.

Decent Looking 'moling Probe'
Digby replied to earth-thrower's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
The FlatPack mole probe is a good one. -
Rabbit guts and rotten eggs left to 'marinate' in a bucket with a good lid on it!!! For a while. You have a cheap, homemade attractant, just ensure you wear gloves and don't spill any on your clothes! Dab the potion high up on a tree/bush and let the wind scent them into the target area. Good Luck!

Hello PK, Have you tried www.s3i.co.uk? They have a large selection of wire cables, differing sizes and flexibilities, plus ferrules, crimping tools etc. I bought cables, ferrules and an Ormiston crimping tool from them, to make ground anchors etc. They are good to deal with too. ATB, Digby.

I was asked to get rid of some moles in a stunningly manicured garden, the first thing i noticed was an array of garden pitchforks and childrens hand held wind rotators dotted next to mole hills! In the garden, i found pearls of garlic, broken wine bottle pieces and of all things . . . Wrigleys Juicy Fruit chewing gum sticks!!! She admitted she had looked " ont' tinternet " for ideas on how to get rid of moles, but after she had placed all her 'mole deterents' the number of molehills kept multiplying, ( DOH !!! I wonder why? ) so she decided to call in a mole eggspurt! I smiled all aftern

You never know what you will catch in a half barrel trap!

+1 www.flatpack.co.uk Their stainless steel half barrel traps are top notch. You get what you pay for, they will last for years, if you look after them. On the other hand - The Big Cheese . . . Buy cheap - buy twice! Re : mole charge in the US. Wow! Unbelievable Jeff !!! If only . . .

www.S3i.co.uk Good to deal with, huge selection and rapid delivery. : )

I make my own fenn trap cages, along with various other trap cubby tunnels and bird box types, housing either fenn or bodygrip traps. Each situation is different and the enviroment dictates which i use. Pros for me! Very cheap to make! (Access to free wire mesh!) (I bought the trap making pliers and clips from Fourteenacre) Trap can be placed in small areas. Painted olive green to blend in. CONS Safe placement is essential. Not as discreet as some traps. A caught squirrel will be left dangling half in, half out (so may offend others?) A possible occurance using a fenn

Is it a suitcase?

Re : 377s, thanks for the heads up. Yes - i use them daily, they are a cracking pair of gloves! Plus they last for ages! Worth a fiver of any ones dinero IMO. As the old saying goes - buy cheap = you buy twice! I wear nitrile gloves, when setting traps / gutting etc, as they allow more touch + feel, plus provide protection against diseases etc, i have a tried a few makes over the years, i highly recommend N-Dex Plus. ( downside is they only come in a box of 50 ) followed by Black Mamba Torque Grips, both American gloves, but available in the UK, " ont tinternet " @ double the USA price!!! I

Hello Shropshire Mole! Yep! Mine did too, I tape my elasticated velcro straps at the joint with gaffer tape to stop them coming undone. I wash my kneeling pads after regular use with mild disinfectant,as they can mess up quickly, depending on the weather, I also keep a spare pair in my truck, in case they get wet or caked in mud. I always wear good quality nitrile gloves when moleing / trapping / gutting etc (to combat Weils disease etc and also clean my hands with antibacterial hand gel or dettol wipes after working. ATB, D.

I wear goretex waterproof overtrousers over Muckboot wellies and good quality gel kneepads From B n Q! (this helps keep my pants + vehicle clean, when i'm driving home and cushions the impact on my knees!) Plus This way - i don't have to bother about remembering where i left my foam kneeling pad! Been there, left it, lost it! LOL.
