    A lot of farms run of springs where I am, but our water is on springs from burns to pens if there's a burn near by,

    A lot of birds generally roost where they was released, (pen) and whistle fed birds you feed at one for so long, then gradually move them a bit each day after a period of time, say a week in and around the pen, then slowly move them and whistle them to the drive, then eventually just fed in the drive, crop or wood, so they will fly to there from roost,

    In a beating line you will have 2 flanks, which are the sides, and a back line, when the flanks are in place the back will close in, and as the back links up with the flanks, everyone closes in slowly, stopping as birds get up, and this is what puts them over the guns, general in a pheasant drive is where you feed the birds, you will have a feed ride on the middle of a crop or wood depends on your drive, and whistle them back to feed them, if They're hopper fed the hoppers will be in a drive. This is a rough idea mate hope this is a help!

    Cheers stando, I'd consider a big shoot if it was better but it was just too big and full of clowns for my liking, some of the lads was spot on don't get me wrong and I still talk to them today, but to work on commercial isn't my cup of tea, wouldn't mind a go on the grouse

    Aye anar what your saying mate but you have no idea how it was, I understand as an under keeper you are the estate bitch lol but it was just a joke when I mentioned my wages and not being able to afford anything and my mam was having to pay for me to eat he just said tough haha commercial isn't for me it's just no sport I want to be somewhere smaller but always busy doing something if you get me

    Aye but there's head keepers out there that appreciate folk, if I was appreciated more the money issue wouldn't have been a decision to leave on, big mistake leaving as I can't find another keeper job but needs must

    Aye mate I know shit runs down hill but when your parents are having to pay for your shopping because your wages aren't enough, and your spoke to like shit even though you do everything your told soon gets to you, game keeping is all I want to do just not commercial and I don't expect the perfect job, just smaller than commercial

    Not every week was 6 days but we shot odd driven days and 19 walk ups I think it was, but never the less I'm looking for a job on a smaller estate as I don't like commercial it's not a sport

    30k pheasants 20 k partridge 1 man on partridge, doesn't sound real there was 2 other lads but they left and wasn't replaced

    Left in May, we shot 6 says a week right through shot no where near the birds a that was down caught loads up I mean loass
