    been flying harrris now for 3 seasons mate and just fancy flying ferruginous or maybe red tail mate as they seem big powerfull birds and fancy new challenge mate just wanted info on these birds ie temprement and size or should i say weight diffrence in sexes and veiws of people who fly them

    fcking horrible to see them eyes and nose all bunged up and closed and the things are skin and bone the place will be littered with the bodies of dead bunnies soon as their not many fox to clear up in this spot

    me and the son had a look out lastnight weather conditions not to good full moon and calm as fck but just went out with the lads 4 yr old 5/8 3/8 bull cross and my pup sky who is now coming up 12 month old we went for a few bunnies and caught 5 3 with pup and 2 with laddy seen very few and most were on the run as soon as we entered fields but the pup is getting more experiance and is catching bunnies ne problem some of the bunnies we got had very bad mixiy and we killed them and disposed of the bodies in the near by tyne this spot we hunt was busting with bunny last year and was g

    over the years in this game ive heard and met bullshitters in all walks of life but the dog game seems to bring out the very best bullshitters of all personally ive never felt the need to big it up but ive heard some gooduns like the dogs never missed a thing before a dog that never missed before i wish on here you dont have to read many threads to find some right bullshitters spot them like rabbits in the lamp

    agood dog is only goodun to you if it does what you want it to do and thats what counts one mans dud is another mans diamond as they say and you cant please everyone so why even try do your own thing and stick to the limits of your dogs abillity we cant all have the ultimate killing machines just me haha

    ive often nearly tossed the towel in and then i think of all the good times and what id miss about this game you got to be prepared to loose dogs its crap ad sickening when it happens but it does if i was you mate i would take timeout and not get rid of gear when ready id start again with pup sorry to hear of loss and all the best in future mate

    never heard so much crap doesnt make a bit of diffrence to a dog in or out wether or not it hunts might make it feel a bit better being in side but when its out working it will if any good well up for it and weather condition will not bother dog ive had dogs kept out and have a dog now inside and not noticed a diffrence in performance

    use to eat alot of game at one time but now sick of it so i give most to dogs or the lass next door or friends love the venison stew still cooked very slowly

    ive never tried calling fox in daylight but if they hungry enough they do out for meal ive just started my bull x pup of she had a few bunnies and had a go at bushy tail she wasnt very keen but am not that bothered just yet she only 12 month old and been out three or four times both her parents were exceptional on teeth and she got size and the temper you cant rush pups and she will do it if and when she ready time will tell

    for stopping the bigger stuff in their tracks and holding theirs no better cross and as well mentioned their prey drive is second to none yes theirs other crosses that can and do take other stuff but for me now the bull cross is perfect you know that the quarry not going anywhere with a bull cross holding it

    picked two road killed hares up and one of them had fully formed leverret inside this young leverret would i think of been born in a few days as we are fast getting ready for new season i wonder how many lads are seeing very late bred animals and if this leverret had been born it would have been still with mother during the season

    wouldnt have a pointer cross or lab cross or much else other than bull cross collie cross deerhound cross these types of cross tried and tested would also have whippet bedlington or greyhound cross cant go wrong with the tradional types these pointer and lad crosses hunt up to much for me so id give them wide berth not keen either on to much saluki in the breeding as im not a saluki lover but a touch in the mix i dont mind adds a bit stamina and speed

    i feed mine tripe and mince plus owt else i can get me hands on that is ok brown bread eggs pasta sometimes have boil up and put in pasta eggs mince veggies and wait till cooled then add complete dog meal in when bunnies are a plenty them get boiled up aswell cant beat a good varrried diet

    ive got a dog in at the minute which jacked last time out he good dog and i know i just pushed him to much and he had enough stupid i know as he was showing signs he was tired and i pushed him for that one more i plan now to leave him of and let him come back when he looks ok and ive got him lot fitter just time will tell

    falconry was once the sport of kings and lurchers the scurge of the kings royal game parks nowts realy changed hawks and their owners get permmision 100 times more easy than the lurcher lads and as i keep both lurchers and harris hawks i see it first hand and have got permmision with hawks and not got a hope of running me dogs on land even though land owner is great and knows me well he said it will upset is farm mates

    pre ban couldnt beat a fox or two not much for hares and love them roe deer now its bunny bashing but you never know what the dogs get up to out at night

    try asking anyone in the dog game in sunderland about fred a legend on teeth for sure and ask northeast finest he knew the dog and tarn well he was well known in essex and sunderland wish they were here now finest pair dogs you could wish to own they put paid to many many fox and things

    take nice and easy wi pup if he nervous like you say spend as much time as possible to get strong bond with it and make great fuss over every little thing it does on your command ie sit stay and retrieve and get rabbit pelt dummy and get it retrieving it rember mate slow but steady progress is the key and if pup is getting bored stop and try again later when he wants to play again when 6 months old take him out with experiance dog to watch it work never be tempted to slip at that age just let him watch for a couple of month mate maybe toss the odd dead bunny for him to retrieve id be tempted

    my first ever trip out lamping years ago ended in tragedy its not nice to happen but every time you go out you run your dogs in total darkness only the lamp on to chase quarry at full speed accidents happen not nice but you no the score dont blame anyone its just one them unfortunate things that happens to us all at least once pick yourself up mate get another pup and try be more carefull next time dont go bothering travelers as it can only make the whole thing worse
