  4. I am all done now lambing, scanned for 7 have 6 lambs
  5. So you should be its Monday ffs, ??
  6. Nice to see the dogs out working for you. Like I said on the thread when the leg got broken I had a lab x with both the front and back leg pinned and she led a full and healthy working life.
  7. If its your first dog then I think you have gone down the wrong route to start with. As cute has beddy whippets may look they can get a very stubborn streak from the beddy and be a little hard headed at times. Have you thought about going to a few local puppy training classes? They are cheap enough and everybody there is in the same boat, all got a unruly dog of some description.
  8. I've never seen that before mate, it's a good idea. I got 3 pieces of tin sheeting and 4 8ft posts and 2 hurdles and put a temp pen up with some lorry sheeting on for the roof to put mine in for 24hours, ring them, put stockholme tar on them because I've got 2 active pig earths bordering the ground, then let them go. I may try some bags myself next year it would be easier.
  9. I think goats take a bit of keeping in, also the bloody things will eat hedge rows like they are going out of fashion.
  10. Sorry to hear that mate. The worst part about me owning dogs is the misses moaning when I make her pick the shit up??
  11. How come you have got plastic jackets on the lambs mate?
  12. As long has you can except there’s no money in a few sheep and that it’s a nice hobby then I would get some and enjoy them. Depending on quality of pasture I think it’s between 2 and 5 ewes per acre so 2 will be plenty under stocked on your 2 or so acres. I’ve just taken on just over 2 acres of land with a small pond on myself. I took the ground on in February this year brought 6 inlamb ewes scanned with 5 singles and a twin. 1 ewe has aborted I’ve got 2 left to lamb but got 4 healthy lambs so far out of the others. Basically as far as I am concerned it’s a nice hobby and hopefully gets my you
  13. 10 years gone by allready it's Nutts. I remember the trip down to choose him and remember where he caught his first rabbit like it was just yesterday.
  14. Yes, too steep to get a machine on.
  15. Yeah, got a few in lamb ewes. A hobby for me and the kids, nice little pond on there as well. No doubt my boy will be around that when the frog spawn and tadpoles are about.
  16. Got sheep on there mate, just clearing it for the extra grazing.
  17. Good little vid that. Bracken is some tough old stuff
  18. Sounds like the best option. I will look into it. Thanks
  19. I've got about half a acre of bracken that I would like to get rid of on a small patch of ground. Has anybody got any knowledge on the best way to get rid of it. Would I gain anything if I cut the dead bracken now with a Strimmer/brush cutter and raked/cleared the area off before it starts to grow. I can then keep it strimmed off through the summer once it reaches about 8 to 10 inches in height. Pigs I believe would be ideal but they are not a option. Or would I be best leaving it until later in the summer and spraying it? It's on a steep bank so not accessible with tractors and to
  20. Don’t know about horses but I herd a rumour that cows get stopped a lot easier than you think.
  21. Had a similar sort of thing last year my lurcher dog was all over the bitch wouldn't leave her side for 5 days. No swelling spotting or nothing, about 4 weeks later she come into a full season. He's doing the same at the moment but she's showing no signs of being or coming in
