Fox....eats carcass Polecat...tries dragging carcass to den Natures way of describing the difference between sense and ambition....

Mine have a mixture of different dried foods (a mix of whatever good brands on offer ) plus a range of meats and fish (cooked or raw, I never waste scraps ). Raw eggs every few weeks as a treat, same with lactose free milk, daily Ferrets Formula. Variety is a very good way to maximise their intake of what they need, not every meat etc holds enough nutritional requirement. As long as the dried food is decent quality and the meat/fish is raw, is non-processed or cooked with salt/herbs etc then it's good to go. Mine get meat summer and winter, in summer I portion the meat into an amount

Is she showing any other symptoms, depressed/lethargic/not eating drinking as much or more than usual/dribbling/not moving just as normal or more active than normal/head tilting/eyes or eyesight abnormal/itching/bumps under skin/hair loss etc? If you can catch it take a vid. Hope she'sdoing better today? Atb.

If you are going down the hoblet route, just keep an eye on jills for neck wounds and Pyometra. Atb.

The op really isn't that bad, probably looks worse than it is. All my jills are spayed and started war-dancing even before GA worn off No complications whatsoever with them and as fit and healthy as ever. Spaying also prevents other hormonal complications, but as you say Adrenal Disease tends to make people doubtful. However Adrenal Disease is relatively rare in the UK and cannot necessarily be pinned on spaying. It is rife in America where ferts are mass farmed for pets stores and neutered/spayed under 6 weeks, kept indoors with artificial lighting 24/7 and fed all sorts of unsuitable fo

Might be an idea for you to get in touch with local ferret rescues, explain the situation and they may be able to find a way to help you get the jills jabbed at reasonable cost. Otherwise have them both spayed, this will save you any further cost in the future. Atb.

It comes down to new regulations. Manufacturers now have to advise that an opened vial must be disposed of 24hrs after opening, however there is nothing to suggest that this is necessary. Depends on the vet practise.

FAO: leegreen Hopefully below link will work, this is a publicly available link to oestrogen toxidity in ferrets, hope this is informative for you. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2013142/pdf/brjexppathol00010-0125.pdf Atb.

Get a new vet. Jills bleeding when in season is not good at all, ferrets do not menstruate as you have described. Allowing jills to remain in season causes Oestrogen Toxidity, this causes bone marrow to significantly reduce production levels of and/or produce non-functioning rbc, wbc and platelets, leading to Aplastic Anaemia, infection, and internal hemorrhage. Mochastorm is correct in stating that diet has no significant bearing on these particular reproductive issues. Atb. Cheer's buddy. The vet in question was a customer and thankfully I wasn't paying him ( I don't like

Hopefully your ferts will have none, otherwise happy to try my best. Atb.

It has also been proven fatal, widen your research net, not only with using potentially toxic plants as a 'contraceptive' but also regarding mustelid reproduction. How exactly do you plan to formulate and administer this herbal remedy to achieve your desired results?
-
Sorry, but really don't agree with using this plant as a DIY effort to save some money. Its a traditional herbal remedy used in developing countries and has also been trialled in small studies in rodents, other research is inconclusive. Not anywhere near sufficient enough data to start experimenting on your ferrets. In humans it can can auto-immune complications, liver and kidney failure, respiratory complications, brain swelling and dysfunction, thyroid issues and can be fatal, even in capsule form. In rat experimentation, a compound has been injected in to uterine horn offering n

Can you put up these case studies? Important notes would be evidence of toxidity relating to brain dysfunction, effect on the Thyroid gland, return to normal reproductive function etc. Personally, I'd steer clear, has potential for absolute disaster. Atb.

Didn't make that up by yourself did you?!?Maybe I did or maybe I didnt. But as long as knowledge learned is knowledge shared, is it a problem? Only as long as the knowledge learned and shared has fact behind it, then no problem for me. Know of a product that will encourage what you've mentionned, but for you to state it as a fact for something gives ill advise. Atb.

Lucky ferret, he's certainly landed on his feet under your care. Keep us posted. Atb.

Not sure if its as cold with you as here, but worth chucking in some warm bedding like old jumpers/fleecy blankets as he doesn't seem like he has any fat stores to keep himself warm enough in this weather, by keeping him warm it will help him to gain weight. Atb.

Also try to get some red meat and fatty meats into the hob gradually or get some Hills a/d preferably to get some calories and nutrients back into the poor wee fella. If it is a severe infestation thats been going on for a while he'll need some tlc to recover from being a 24hr blood donor. Atb.
-
They'll drop off when treated as it buggers their nervous system. Defo try to remove as many as poss with tick remover because as they're actively feeding at present some ticks will be near to or fully fed and may drop off before you can get hold of the treatment, then those wee buggers will crawl away and hide until they fancy another meal. Atb.
-
While it is at the early fungal stage with you, treat with topical applications asap (available at pharmacy) and also purchase disposable gloves to use handling animals/their bedding etc where poss until you infection cleared. If it becomes more advanced there is the risk of bacterial spread. Depends on the strain of ringworm as to whether it will affect ferts/dogs but from the sounds of that house I wouldn't like to guess. Atb.

Fill the tub about 1inch of tepid water and leave the shower head running on tepid too, bring fert in bathroom and close door, put large towel on floor, then put fert in bath and soak ferts body and rub water aound head, shampoo and rinse thoroughly, remove excess water from fert before letting it down on bathroom floor and towel, sit down on toilet (make sure lid cover down first) and piss yourself laughing at fert drying itself, if you need more entertainment, get the hairdryer, once fert dry, compose yourself and carry on. Atb.

Constant food available for mine, ad lib dried food and evening meat. Ferrets hoard food when their stomach is full, a natural instinct to stash a future food source for if times get hard. Regardless of instinct, ferrets have a very high metabolism and typically eat every few hours. Measure their food so only a few bits remain daily when you replace it. Wild animals hunt and eat successfully or starve to death. Ferrets and dogs aren't wild animals and haven't been for thousands of years, so they don't depend on eating when they/or what they kill nor do they have the chance kill and eat prey at

Look healthy and in good condition, you must be pleased with them. They settling in ok? Atb.

Being from Norn Iron is tricky enough, add the dry sense of humour....well, you know what I mean like. Just making a version of a tin hat here, but appreciate pro and anti points of view, don't believe either side is always right. Atb.
