Hi Perhaps a phone call to the office? I called regarding a query with my FAC and SGC during the process, the query was sorted and I was told it will be about 3 more weeks before getting tickets. Received ticket next day!! Total 27 days start to finish. So sometimes it does go ok, but worth that call Rav

Hi Ravanelli,
Have a look at the Edgar Bros. Optimate scopes, they are a no nonesense Japanese made scope and are great value for money, you will also be able to buy a Leupold rifleman or VX1 scope new for your budget, made in the US and a quality scope, I have one on my .17, before that I had a Bushnell banner, and it was excellent too, 2nd hand German scopes are an option too. Hi Thanks for your reply. I have already got ticket for both sound mods, 1 for the 17HMR and 1 for the 22WMR......... This isnt the dilema............. Regards Rav

Hi yeah it does say BARREL............. My fault as I mentioned during interview that I am considering Sako Quad with 17HMR and 22WMR barrels. So net result is I can buy ANY 17HMR................if I want the 22WMR I can only buy the barrel..............and to the best of my knowledge a 22WMR barrel will only fit on a Sako Quad. Think this is what is called a catch 22 !! Rav

Hi Another positive vote for Essex old bill firearms licence office. Sent application on March 21. Got FAC and SGC on April 30. By my calculations, taking into account the recent bank holidays, thats 27 working days. Pretty good I'm sure you'll agree. So have now got tickets for: A) 17HMR rifle B)Sound Mod for same C)22WMR Barrel D)Sound mod for same E)Semi-auto shotgun on FAC ticket F)Shotgun on SGC G)Various ammo. So as you can see plenty to keep me going. The only thing that I require help from is the situation with the 22mag barrel. This is on there because I thought it was a

Very new to this ............so hopefully will benefit from your experience. Have used an air rifle until few months ago fitted with Hawke 3-9x50. Thought it was pretty good for 30 yard pigeons etc.... But NOW............... ready to get new .17HMR (NOT SURE MAKE/MODEL YET) and have set budget at £300 FOR THE SCOPE Have seen Hawke HK4010 6-24X56 MILDOT and Hawke HK4014 8-32X56 MILDOT at local shop for £262 and £287 respectively. Any good? Or should I spend the 300 quid on another make/model ? Regards Rav

Thanks for all the replies so far. I had conversation with firearms department today.............turns out I am not restricted to the Sako Quad............it just states....17 HMR ( amongst other bits and pieces) on the paperwork. So it looks as though I can buy any make/model as long as its .17hmr......... That makes it a little easier to pick one I suppose Regards Rav

Hi all Slowly getting there with decisions about what to buy. One question to all of the much more experienced users on here................ Will be getting Sako Quad in 17 HMR.............. What scope please (rabbiting and corvids) on a budget of 250 quid (ish) ? Regards Rav

Hi all Well finally had visit from FEO. All went well. Had original and copies of signed permissions, detailed maps of area covered ( approx 3 to 4 thousand acres!)new BASC membership details and approved brattonsound 6 gun cabinet and seperate large ammo safe all fitted accordingly. So that was a good start. After about an hour of very friendly chat and advice from FEO I have been authorised the following: 1.SAKO QUAD .17 HMR. 2.Barrel in .22 WMR for above quad. 3.Suitable expanding ammo. 4.Semi auto shotgun (self-loading type not pump action....my choice) ON THE F.A.C. so

Hi all there certainly appears to be discrepancies between police forces. My first time application for SGC and FAC last month has resulted in the 2 calibres I wanted for small bore rifles AND being allowed a semi auto on FAC for pigeon control. Add to this a standard SGC also......... My research over the last few months reveal the firearms law in this country needs 'looking into'. By the way my permissions (letters, maps, signatures) cover a huge area right on my doorstep

Hi Decided to join after reading some excellent posts over last few months. Currently waiting for local police department so approve my FAC and SGC ticket...............Shotgun for rough pigeons and rifle for vermin such as rabbits, corvids etc...... I have approx 5000 acres of permission to shoot. Pretty much sorted the shotgun choice and unless advised otherwise planning on O/U 12G second hand say about 750-800 quid. Any advice? Rifle seems abit more difficult, but have researched mainly .17 and .22 (infact it was my local FEO who recommended I apply for my FAC at the same time as
