  1. Before during and after. Simple oak fork.
  2. Made these yesterday, the Hawthorne has had a Danish oil coating and will get beeswaxed tomorrow. The birch has had a Danish oil coat and then been poly coated. I almost didn't post these after the absolute artwork Longers has just put on here lol, anyway fook it, gotta start somewhere
  3. Did you get that from the little lumps bigboy19706?
  4. Did it come of an old tree or young? Big or small?
  5. try tru oil give a glass like finish i did my brothers mfr stock with it and my r10 I've been using Danish oil mate which doesn't give the shine, I'll check it out
  6. I started making catties recently, I'll get some pics up when I'm done with a few. I'm just waiting on some beeswax to finish, I wasn't happy with the varnish I got and had to start again.
  7. True mate I really like them. They might be light for M10 though. Big old nuts M10s.
  8. I'm using the amber 2040 that came with a catty at the minute. Overall length is like yours at around 14" they max out at around a 34" draw and i draw to about 33" shooting this catty. I've been shooting hex nuts with this setup practicing at about 30 feet and I like it. Id hunt with it no problem within this range. Hex nuts are bigger but they're not a heavy ammo. I've not weighed one, but you don't need heavy bands for them.
  9. Yeah definitely sounds like a bit of a tree.
  10. battery went tonight. Dog had 2 rabbits she kindly brought me chewed to f**k in dark.

  11. All I'm saying YCH is that I trust it enough to shoot it, Its not that I ant given it any thought mate
  12. This is a dense piece of wood, you cant fake that. It isnt cast monkey metal dressed up as stainless. Theres as much chance of breakage as any natural wood catty. I have spent a lot more on a catty recently but I fancied my chances when I saw this and its come good. People are quick to judge
  13. No this is not cheap cast metal its a pretty dense wood that I gave some stick (pun intended) with a hammer and checked out, before I even drew the bands. Did I come across in my post as someone stupid who wouldn't give a thought to my safety? Who says I don't wear shooting glasses too. Thanks for your concern
  14. I bought this off ebay for £4 from china. I'd seen the shape on more expensive well known catties and wanted to try it cos I like the full pinch grip style. lts miles better quality than i thought and accurate too. The bands are 2040 I think and chuck banned text hex nuts fast as as f**k. Best £4 I ever spent (maybe). Not taken game with it yet but watch this space
  15. I broke my finger with a catty when I was really young, I cant even remember how it happened really. As I got older and started using a catty properly I've never had so much as a scratch from one. I wasnt gonna post in this topic saying that, cos you know now i'll go out tomorrow and probably break me hand or summat
  16. Cheers its had a couple of coats of danish oil on it now and its looing good, its brought out the grain. I dont know if I should poly coat it yet. I,ll see tomoz.
  17. It's just preference, do you want a fat catty or thin?
  18. Believe me it didn't start that shape lol it's had a lot of wood taken off to make that shape.
  19. Bit more sanding to do then ill finish and band it tomorrow, its a little belter cant wait to shoot it. I'll put better pics up when its done.
  20. Hahaha guys a hero, looking after his bird like that PMSL
  21. 30,000 years ago, European paleolithic people ate mammoth and fed reindeer to their dogs....... Lucky dogs
