  9. Alright guys, been lurking about for a while and thought i should put some pics of the dog up. 11.5mths old now. recall spot on, marks up well, and been out for a spot of shooting too, retrieves well(sometimes) but were working on it all the time and he's getting better. atb

  11. Bull i have a whippet who has sooty sam in his blood line and he is a KC whippet. on his mothers side it comes down from sooty sam. Thats about as much as my knowledge goes, i know sooty sam was a top dog in his day and as far as i know they are ped whippets. atb
  12. i have a 11.5month old whippet he gets a hour walk a day maybe more. some say 5mins per month of age but tbh i agree its load of crap. how can u regulate a puppy running around, jumping on couches and off and generally just rallying around the place? im sure an hour of uncontrolled running/playing "is just as bad" as a hour walk with constructive play/retieval practice etc thrown in. if the bad joints etc were true, how do farm dogs always last an age, especially collies who are out all day running mental from a young age. walk your dog for a time which u feel appropriate, 15min walk is probs
  13. hi guys wondering what everyones experiences of neutering there dogs are? having to decide if i want mine done or not and your thoughts on the usbject would be welcome. cheers

  16. i have a 6.5 month old whippet dog, bloody quick and been told good build and conformation etc never had a whippet before and wondered when is a good time to get him going for rabbits? plenty around my way as im in the country, however when its dusky and there out he doesnt seem to see them that well, is this common?? should i get a few easy ones for him or leave it till winter when hes a year old? cheers and sorry if i sound stupid, just new to this
  17. Was hoping that he will retrieve rabbits shot by me or caught by him or possibly bird etc. I know that Whippets aren't the ideal retrievers but they are intelligent dogs who love to please. Any good sites with tips for teaching dogs retrieval, worked with labs before but they both did it without asking or being taught. Cheers
  18. Hi all! new to the forum and looking to hear some of your thoughts on whether a whippet can be a good retriever? cheers
