With our new site at Borris House in Borris, Co. Carlow being much bigger, we have already significantly increased the show this year in terms of associations, attractions, have-a-go activities and traders. Set-up is under way and it is shaping up to be a great event. Keep posted on our website and facebook pages for regular updates: www.nationalcountryfair.ie and http://www.(!64.56:886/nationalcountryfair

Thanks to the couple who have pm'd so far. I will be in touch and i do hope that we hear from the rest as they certainly have made plenty of defamtory comments that i hope can be discussed face-to-face but we'll see. As i have said I am happy to listen to your views on how things can be improved but I don't feel that you all have a concensus between yourselves as to what really constitutes the type of event you are looking for. I am seeing a common concensus with the price but as to the rest well maybe through discussions with some of you we will see a trend appear. Now if the issues are gen

Having just returned late last night from Ballinlough Castle, I am now just reading the feedback regarding the show. I have to say that I am somewhat surprised by the negativity in these comments since neither me personally, nor my co-director, were made aware of any of your issues on the day; in fact the feedback I received from your fellow competitors while over in the Lurcher & Terrier area was very positive. However, we thank you for pointing out your concerns and you can be assured that we will listen to what you have to say. I would now personally like to invite the following

What extra fiver? This show was €15 last year and this year we have a lot more new attractions in addition to what was there last year. Therefore we are bringing even more value for money. For families we have children going FREE. There are also a number of children and animal charities being supported? Either we care enough about country sports to put a little bit of revenue their way or we don't. I know which boat we are on!

Michael that is your choice. We believe that €15 is value for money considering all the competitions, demonstrations, attractions and stands that will be at the show. Our price is also in line with most other large events with one exception, we do not charge for children as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

With just two weeks to go now until the Ballinlough Castle Country Fair, we are all hoping for great weather and another great show. We have been working hard over the last year to bring further new attractions to the show and trust that you will enjoy and participate in as many aspects of this growing two day event as possible. Although only coming in to its third year, this show is already generating significant interest from all across Ireland and this can be seen in the new additions to the show this year. But first to some old favourites. LURCHERS, TERRIERS & WHIPPETS Sunday 1

Why we go to Gamefairs
IrishNationalCountryFairs replied to Terryorr's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
Totally with you all in sport on this one!! Might not please everybody all of the time but if we can do our bit to protect country sports for the majority, most of the time, that will keep us doing what we do! -
BALLINLOUGH CASTLE COUNTRY FAIR Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 July 2011 Although only entering its 3rd year, the Ballinlough Castle Country Fair in Clonmellon, Co.Westmeath is already establishing itself as one of the 'must visit' events of the Irish country sporting calendar. Renouned for our warm atmosphere and family orientated activities, this is a show not to be missed. In addition to the main stay events including Gundog World, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Hunts, Horses & Hounds and top displays in our Main Arena, we have added a number of new attractions this year, details of whi

Fantastic pics Bluebell, as ever! It is great to see so many fine looking dogs and to catch them all in action is even better. Brings back some great memories! Couldn't agree more that the first pic is a cracker with Rio, Reilly and sis. What a trio!! Feel free to send some of them through on email and we will put them on to the fair website and facebook too!

LURCHER & TERRIER EVENTS
IrishNationalCountryFairs replied to poacherslad22's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
We want to thank the Gilford Lurcher & Terrier Club for running another top class event at the Moira Game Fair this year. A special thank you also goes to all the competitors and to the judges who we recognise do not have the easiest of jobs on the day. Finally congratulations to the winners in each of the categories. -

IrishNationalCountryFairs replied to kenzie's topic in Gamefairs, Meet Up's and Events
The lurcher and terrier events are all on tomorrow, Saturday from 10.30am. The Gilford Lurcher & Terrier club have a great line up of racing and showing at the Moira Game Fair this year. Parking is ringside and you do not need to pay into the main fair to compete. Follow link for full details of classes: http://www.gamefairireland.com/lurchers.html -
CG The terriers events are on the Saturday 28th at Moira and no one is quarantined in a bog at the front of the show. All those entering the lurcher, terrier and whippet events, like everyone else, are entitled to pay the adult entry fee if they want to see round the rest of the show but if they do not wish to they can still enter the showing and racing activities separately. We the event organisers meet with the organising club well in advance of the shows each year and agree where the showing and racing will take place and in what format. The ground conditions are not moss and peat so th

Louiejoe No problem! The racing kicks off at 11am so we are recommending competitors be there for 10.30am latest. If you click on the link below this will show you the various racing and showing classes on the day. With regards to the judging; we do not ask the organising club to provide us with this information. They manage this themselves and unless we had issues we leave them to do what they do best. http://www.gamefairireland.com/lurchers.html

Thanks for the comments Pigsy! We leave all this down to the organising club as it is their annual show. Having worked with them for many years, we are happy that they run an excellent event. They decide who to invite along as judges on the day and we do not question this or ask them to disclose who the judges are.
