  1. Have a look here lads http://sportingcutlery.co.uk/knives/knives-by-category/fixed-blade.html
  2. I recommend hydrogen peroxide mate. Works wonders! If that was mine, I'd have it stitched or stapled too but there are people on here with a lot more experience than me ATB Sam
  3. I've heard a lot of good things about his dogs. The only people who seem to slate them are people how haven't had one and would never buy one. That Alex is a nice looking dog though. What sort of top end do you think you'd get out of an average 1/2 cross? Sam
  4. Thanks at least the running instinct part is in them then. Much better than him having them just for breeding
  5. Does anyone know anything about the greyhounds that he uses? Are they racers, ex track dogs, kept by him for breeding etc. etc.? Unless I'm not looking properly, I can't see any info on the greyhound side
  6. This is something that I've wondered a few times too. Can anyone give a few examples of the differences between the 3/4 crosses though? ATB Sam
  7. Thanks Geoff, After giving him a bit of an amateur once over, it looks like there's something going on with his front left shoulder. I don't know why that didn't occur to me won't be overlooking that again though. I'll be booking him an appointment today ATB Sam
  8. It it the same one as in your avatar? If so, nice looking dog that mate
  9. Do you think that I should be looking for a chiropractor or a greyhound vet? If so, are there any in or around the North Wales area? I've already got Paul Evans' number
  10. Thanks for all of the replies. Some good info. As stupid as it seems, I didn't really think it could be a muscular or bone thing but that makes a lot of sense I think I was maybe a bit harsh in describing him in a couple of ways; 1) he hasn't lost interest, He gives his all on every run but it's like he's missing that extra little bit. 2) The rabbit that I said he dropped was dropped just after he caught it. He caught, I turned the lamp off, turned it back on after a couple of seconds and he was chasing it into a bush. I was just using it as an example in saying that everything just
  11. My beddy whippet grey was doing really well last season in his first winter. There were very few nights that he caught less than 50% of what he ran. There were no massive numbers with him catching 7 on his best night but that's the way it is on my permission. You'd be doing well to get more than 10 runs in a night so I thought that he was more than happy. He knew from the off that he should run hedge side of the rabbit and has never killed 1, bringing all back live to hand. He's coming up to 2 and I'm really please with his temp etc. but this season it just doesn't seem to be happening his
  12. Good to hear mate! I'm glad you've got her good in the end! I'm sure that the past few months haven't been easy but I bet you're glad you didn't re home her
  13. Call Snowdonia Taxidermy Studios on 01492 642728. They might have something
  14. Hi Kevin, You can use any of the above suggestions and although it's a great, cheap option for dog training dummies. you wont get your desired effect of a supple skin to turn into a rug. Try White Tan - http://sportingcutlery.co.uk/taxidermy-and-tanning/tanning-kits/cp0502.html Or buy it along with Supa Soft Oil (this does exactly what it says on the tin) - http://sportingcutlery.co.uk/taxidermy-and-tanning/tanning-kits/cp107.html If you need any more info, call 01492 640664. Our guys have been in the taxidermy and tanning industry since 1964 and can give you as much advice as you
  15. The Issue 6 knife and tool catalogue from http://sportingcutlery.co.uk/ is now out. Order your free copy here http://sportingcutlery.co.uk/catknife6.html ATB Sam
  16. Going by what you've said there mate I'd say that you haven't got a good enough bond with her. You need to build up bond and trust with a dog for them to trust you enough to bring back a rabbit live. See what others think but I'd right this year off and work on building trust. If you carry on letting her kill and not retrieve then she'll get into that habit. Work hard on gaining her trust and make sure that you have a good bond and maybe try her again. Also, I don't know how much work has been done with her but does she even know how to retrieve? Have you done any retrieving with her w
  17. I think they're a good lamp mate. This is my 3rd season with it and we've been out about 3 nights a week on average (Sept. to March) and the switch could do with replacing now. Great value for money I think!
  18. Sorry to hear that mate. Good luck on finding her
  19. Same mate. Trojan, don't you use the meat for anything? I'd be gutted if mine started killing let along stop killing!
  20. So are you saying that you ripped my mate off by charging him £200 then? I was there when he chose the pup and handed over 200 pound sterling. 110% sure of that. On your 3rd point; I think you've just proven my point in what you said in that. What you buy and how much you spend on your kit should have no relevance to how many litters you have, what price you charge or how much you make. Yet you felt the need to compare the two.....? Sorry mate. I don't often comment on for sale stuff unless I'm interested but this one got my goat. I'm sure the pups will turn out to be fine dogs and pro
  21. Geoff, I saw the litter of the collie cross pups and they looked like nice pups. A mate of mine had one and the dog's coming on really well now. You said that he was thinking of a repeat mating next year and I'd really considered it until I; 1) saw this add for pups off an 18 month old bitch, 2) realised that when he bred the whippet dog to the collie cross bitch, the dog must have only been around 18 months old himself and 3) I worked out that the first litter made you £2000 (10 pups at £200 each) and this one will be making you £2250 with you not keeping a pup from either litter. 22. You beat me to it scramble! If the guy started at the beginning of Sept. with the dog at 10 months that would mean that, on average, he's taking 50 rabbits per week. I think he's either putting one hell of a load of rabbits in front of the dog and it'll be knackered by the time it's 6 or telling porkies. Not having a go mate but was this mating an accident? If not, what makes the bitch so worth mating with at 18 month old considering she's only had one season?
