  1. There were a lot of representation from terrier clubs in Scotland and it is still ongoing my old man is at the moment advising club members to start lobbying their NEW msp's now re tail docking and also to report the abuse of statutary powers by some charities pm me if you need more info remember clubs are only as strong as their members what club are you a member of and what are you doing to have it overturned in Scotland? I think I'm right in saying that you have a total ban in Scotland and it is an offence to cross the border to have your litter docked. It is no offence to buy a do
  2. Whichever Welshman thought that up really shouldnt be allowed to think unsupervised! So cross breeds dont work? lol I'm sure it says on my docking certificate that it's acceptable to dock a dog that is 'predominantly' composed of a named breed.. I'm away to look. I don't know, I don't think I've ever looked at mine. Mind due, whos goin to know what the make up is of a day old pup? Pfft complete load of sh*t IMO but hey ho Sam
  3. lol i think they have a good nose. I haven't got an opinion on them as I don't think I've ever seen one in the flesh but I know that there are a few diggin lads that wouldn't thank you for one. They're built as rabbiters and ratters not foxin dogs but like I say, I can't comment I've heard of lads around us crossin small hounds like beagles with a terrier to get a good nose. Sam
  4. Nice looking pup that what is he crossed with? Sam
  5. i would say jagds are energetic vocal and head strong. Actually very very very energetic you would notice that straight away , they just dont sit still. I wonder where they got that trait from, fox terriers ? Ye I've seen a lot of pics and videos of jagds doin the job and they look awesome on boar and coyote etc. I ain't knockin a dog bein vocal, energetic and head strong or else I wouldn't have a patterdale myself. I actually wouldn't have anything other than lively and a bit head stong but I wouldn't want the same in a pet. Like Ryan said though, a good russell would do the j
  6. I've got nothin against them but where can you find a reasonably priced border? It's not a dig, genuine question. I've just never bothered lookin at borders because I know I can find somethin else to do the same job for half the money Sam

  8. hi what is equipment that docking in video ? knife? http://www.cdb.org/video/video.htm Just a tight elastic band like farmers used to use on sheep i think Sam
  9. Why how big is your dog? I've got a russell that's around 15" tts but very lean and I haven't found a hole she won't get down but I suppose it depends how broad your dog is. Sam

  11. I thought i was goin to see some good pics then but i still cracked a smile
  12. Sorry, meant 'pure pet' not 'put'
  13. Id go for a patterdale all day long because you have more chance of finding genuine working stock at a realistic price. Having said that, they can be very vocal, energetic and head strong which I wouldn't want if I was ever to have a dog that was to be a pure put so it's swings and roundabouts IMO. My patterdales in my avatar. Shes a nice looking dog and she already works well on rats at 6 months Sam
  14. Well nice lookin working dogs are nice lookin workin dogs I say peace Sam
  15. Loads of top advice dogs yap when they are frustrated so as Moll said, get him fired up and make him want to chase stuff. Also, it sounds like he hasn't seen the end product (the fun, floppy furry thing that we call a dead rabbit) make it fun because this should be a reward for hunting well too. Show him a dead rabbit/rabbit skin or anything that resembles a rabbit and play with him with it (he also needs to know the smell of the rabbit so that he can track them in hedges so a dead rabbit or fresh rabbit skin would be best). Lastly, if you caught a rat in a live catch trap, it would be a

  20. Nice lookin dog that, Terrier man! The one in your avatar looks good too!
  21. Ahh that's why your not an MP Born Hunter because if you were, you'd know that cross breds, along with patterdales, don't work in WALES but if you skip accross the border to England, they do! Sam
