with regards to noise i think if anyone was to be passing they'd think they were witnessing an alien abduction

buy a £5 kiddies metal detector and superglue an old brown ale cap to ya ferrets foreheed, usually works the trick... (incase any simpletons are reading this i wasn't serious)

Well as a lot will know i'm still new to ferreting (first year) and its the only ferret finder ive bought, put alot of time into finding out which was the best and yes alot of people rate the mk1 but as mentioned before quite a few are starting to fail. I went for the mk3m as i knew deben gave a warranty with it as well as i knew they'd be servicing them for a long time to come saving money in the future unlike the mk1 which has been phased out yet people can still pay £ - £100. as far as i know the mk1 only has the option to locate your ferret from directly underneath the receiver? where as t

just got a mk3m used it 3 or 4 times and must say their brilliant, can stand well back from a set and have no bother tracking the ferrets and the locate option for digging too ferrets is spot on with regards to depth. all in all fairly expensive piece of kit for what it is but well worth the money considering how much could still pay for a knackered mk1 and at least ya know ya getting a warranty with it and be plenty collars kicking about in the near future.

I wouldn't worry about the biscuit rubbish too much ferrets have been around a lot longer than dried food, it is handy when warm days are here as it doesn't go off but ive known people who have kept ferrets on cat food for years and had no problems but ideally fresh meat is best and the bones help keep their teeth clean and avoid abscesses in later life. Just common sense though ferrets are meat eaters so feed them meat, fresher the better.

a £20 DPM jacket keeps ya warm and dry -
to be honest the biscuits are to big for them to manage anyway at that age, just crush em up a bit and mix with a high protein cat food the jelly will do the rest with regards to softening them. usually only takes hour or two and their fine, as "the one" says though too many biscuits and the kits end up walking backwards trying to get the paste out their gobs. mine are just over 6 weeks old now so started feeding raw chicken/rabbit. had no problems so far.

i got my first ferrets (hobs) less than 6 month ago and never looked back, already worked them without any problems and also make good pets, good luck with them mate hope ya enjoy the sport.

ive never considered castrating ferrets, my dog was castrated and now wont even chase a stick

id be weary of using straw and saw dust as apparently can cause respiratory problems due to small seeds and dust particles, mine get wood shavings in the run area just to help soak up any urine and just old clothes/rags as bedding. tend to just roll themselves up in old towels or lie on top if warm and as Joe said doesn't take much to wash them out so last ages.

look for a video by big fish and rabbiteer possiby one of the best around, watched it the once and been making nets the same way since. i usually make mine 18 meshes wide and 16 meshes long on a 2 inch board which works out around 3 feet long, and the odd 20 mesh long nets just for any larger sets or 2 grouped close together. Get yaself onto agouti nets costs around 24 quid posted for a spun poly net making kit it says makes around 15 nets but using my method (very little wasted aswell) i managed 12 but youll never look back. better than any shop bought ones just time consuming. would defi

cheers lads, guess ill just stay patient and hope for the best. Alot of the time im starting to think its just playing as it rolls on its back and tries to pull my hand in. hopefully will pass with handling and age

Its the first ever kit ive had as i haven't been into ferreting for that long (6 months) and noticed he nips quite a bit which is not bad at the moment but once them jaw muscles get working i doubt it tickles. If anyone has any tips such as age should start training or best ways to stop it nipping then id be greatfull.

My latest hob thanks to shabba, top bloke and well looked after ferrets. Should have it out hunting by January.

Bought a net making kit (lightsaber not included), watched the video and they've turned out perfect so for anyone interested in making nets theres no need to look any further. Only downside is its taking over an hour each but ill keep practicing.

managed to get day off work so ill be there, anyone got any idea what time starts?
-
I keep all my gear in a backpack, if forgot to turn one of collars off always have the spare magnet on keys its easier than digging locator out but i did wonder why got it if its built in anyway.
-
just started making nets myself and used spun poly, single nots, no slipping and its strong stuff. Hemp is fine if ya want a traditional net but why make stuff harder than it is (and more expensive)
-
is this the same place as auction cos is a rumour its being moved to bill quay farm. either way ill be there if can get the boss to give es time off work.
-
ive seen them done with greaseproof/waxed paper where you lay bacon strips on it then roll the rabbit up as would "pigs in blankets" might be what he was on about, otherwise its just him and a mate inventing their own slang
-
As they say "if it ain't broke don't fix it." Just stick to the traditional method doesn't take too much effort to make provided ya got few hours spare or buy them, their cheap enough. got images of cheap garden pea netting whipped onto rings probably wouldn't even last ya a season.

new to ferreting myself, but i bought a hob which had similar problem dirt or wax in the ears cleaned it once and it hasnt returned. been over a month now
