  1. yes the countryside foxes are under threat so being the conservation'its that i am i think we should all go out and dig pigs
  2. :welcome: How do mate, nice looking dogs,Nuttal blood? One of them is identical to a Nuttal bred dog of mine, hope yours works better than mine
  3. Good work there Sadie, nice one
  4. I'd agree with that,to be honest if no one ever shot another fox i'd be a happy man,im more into my terriers and hunting, but every one has a right to choose, i just wish the lampers would spare more of a thought for other hunters, maybe go for a more challenging quarry/rifle combo, after all its probably harder stalking rabbits with a rifle in daytime than lamping foxes at night, and deer stalking certainly is.Shooting foxes sometimes needs to be done, but dont over do it.
  5. I dont know of any good litters about at mo,just missed some, but if i hear of any i'll pm you
  6. Thats a real shitter mate soz, but all u can do is keep yer chin up n try again, fortunately its a rare occurance but it dont make it any easier when it happens.
  7. Bad news mate, did you lose it working?
  8. they have more work than they can handle valerio mate I could lend a hand sometime if your stuck
  9. no mate ive got no pavements but ive got four acres if you think you can get a digging dog 110% fit by walking it down some poxy pavement, your a better man than me. when i mean fit irealy mean fit [/q Only pullin your leg fella But seriously ive managed for 18 yrs working terriers that have never seen a treadmill and they can work all day no prob, ive dug to them when they've been to ground through the night and got em out next day a few times n they've still been raring to go, i walk em bout 2 mile every day and work them 3 days a week, they're fit as a fiddle,i can see your point
  10. Dont you have any pavements and fields where you live
  11. is there any impact from the english law? or are you covered by the game birds protection. Protecting gamebirds, as long as you have permission and a gun and follow the rules its all above board
  12. Yeah where did all the posts go?
  13. Nice dogs Nicola, how they bred? They done much?
  14. Im terrierman for a mounted pack of harriers but hunting beagles on foot is a different prospect, its good to hear others experiences of doing it
  15. Nice one cheers pointer,i was thinking maybe 5-6 hounds, ive got about 6000 acres of permission and working on some more but i dont know if id be able to hunt it all so im a bit worried about not having enough land to hunt every wknd, dont want to keep going over same land all time or it'll never hold

    ROBBING SCUM

As long as they dint nick you're dogs mate!! FECKING THIEVING B*ASTARDS!!! Hope they get cancer at back of their eyes!!!
  17. No worries dude We all need to be resposible and play it by ear as far as controling foxes goes, nobody wants foxes wiped out but if there's too many we're not doing our job properly, and every area is different,in some places they need to be shot in numbers, like i say there's a place for hunting and shooting and we should stick together,if we all do it sensibly there should be enough sport for all, keep up the good work wether you work dogs or shoot
  18. Yeah Micheal Shaw i think you're right J Darcy
  19. Ive got a .22.250 and three fell terriers, have to say i'd much rather be working the terriers, you can't release a pregnant vixen thats been shot with a .22.250,and you cant shoot foxes down an hole, but each has its place and each to his own,but the rising popularity of lamping with rifles is doing the fox population serious harm in some places,JMO
  20. Ive been giving this some thought,i work terriers and often struggle to find foxes to ground and considered a small pack of beagles or harriers. How many do you think would be needed? What about public liability insurance? Would beagles get to ground after their fox? And how much land do you think is needed to make it worthwhile? Any info much appreciated By the way Whitser theres a book called Beagling by Jeremy Hobson and one called Beagle and Terrier by Roger Free which mainly concerns rabbit hunting but gives you some idea
