Words well spoken mr1. But the NWTF dont seem to do a lot to promote themselves,and as i understand it you can only be an affiliated member via a club such as FMWTC,surely they would be able to raise more funds and be able to promote themselves better,thus recieving more support,if people could become direct members,aswell as through affiliated clubs, i think more people would join and they could become a bigger voice.NWTF do a sterling job as it is, but a bigger membership can only be a good thing to promote our cause.And i agree more money from terrier related events should go their way.Perh -

I started when i was about 7,a mate of my dads had ferrets n lurchers n he used to take me out a bit,then i got my own ferts but i was'nt allowed a dog at that age,about a year after i met him my dads mate died of brain tumor n i did'nt know anyone else who was into it so i plodded along on my own n learnt from my own mistakes.When i was 12 i got my first terrier and when he was a year old had my first fox with him,been at it ever since,mainly terrierwork and hunting but do a bit of shooting, ferting, fishing etc as well,30 now and hope to still be at it when i peg out

The stuff i used was for dogs,panacur 10% for dogs, fenbendazole i think?

I used it last year,works fine, i think i put about 20-25ml in a 25l water drinker,left it 2-3 days making sure they can only get water from there. Are the birds snicking/gaping? If not i would'nt bother,we had some of the worst of the wet weather round here and ive not had any trouble with gapes upto now.

No you dont need to heat jar. Simmer the jam for about 10mins then test it,it wont set solid but when its nearly set its ready.To make jelly do same but seive the juice thru and leave to set.

Boil an equal weight of fruit n sugar in a big pan,use jam sugar cos its got pectin in to make it sett,if you cant get jam sugar put lemon juice in.once its simmering keep dropping a bit onto a cold plate and leave it to cool for a min,if it setts its ready,if not keep simmering and testing untill it does sett.Once its ready pour straight into jam jar n screw lid on and leave to cool,that way when it cools it'll create a vacuum so it'll keep longer.If you want to be healthy you can put more friut n less sugar in.Same recipe for most jam!

Does digging to a ferret collar count? I once dug 7' to a collar that came off first time i used it,at Grassington,it did'nt stop raining all day too,not my most enjoyable days ferreting

Sounds like a fair enough question to me if he does'nt have any experiance with whelping.Firstly the bitch should be fine outside as long as she's got a kennel to her self,not sharing with other dogs,and its warm,dry and draught free,which it should be anyway.She will need more feed,prob not for the first 3 weeks but then increase it steadily as she starts showing and feed a couple of meals a day so she's not over faced cos dont forget she's got a belly full of pups too.Keep an eye on her while she's whelping but once your sure she's had last one leave her too it if they're all feeding content -
