  6. The fella who told me uses 2 welding rods with the ends bent about 30',rest the bent end under the web of your thumb and rest the straight length on your index finger holding the tips of the rods a few inches apart, when you pass over the tube or water or whatever your looking for the ends of the rods will pull together slightly,i guess its something to do with magnetic force altering or something???

    New Boots

These are the puppies parts! Better than mouflon plus and cheaper,i paid £130 for mine but i think rrp is around £150 http://www.haix.com/eng/outdoorhunting_pro...?artikel=200301
  9. Not sure but i heard one was found nr morley
  10. One of the dogs was picked up nr east ardsley, could be a name worth looking into more closely
  11. I was told about it from a reliable sort, infact he'd be a mate of Wally's.Apparently you can even tell the depth of the tube by the distance that you start getting a reading to where the signal is strongest....that distance would be the same as the depth.Could be very handy if the dog got into a drain or suchlike without a collar and you did'nt know which way it went...or to map out the area an earth covered if you could'nt get a mark. Anyone else have any experience of it??
  12. Ok but he can do the digging!
  13. Any one ever used them? Maybe the older end that would have seen them used. The other thread about T Bars got me thinking about this
  14. Looking good knifebar...i went a bit O.T.T with mine and overcrowded it a bit...have you had any trouble from birds on yer peas?
  15. ive got a first addition in VGC and a first addition ,the world of the working terrier ,signed and dated didnt realise they was worth that though Won't be worth that now mate with the 2nd editions but before it was very hard to get hold of
  16. Its a good book but only small, depends wether its 1st ed as to its value, the 1st was selling for upto £200 before it was re-published,you can get it new for about £20 now
  17. RVWTC went and rescued 2 pups, they had fallen down a hole in a field near Mansfield. The black one was on loan to Mark Stocks from a well known terrier man. After the rescue the terrier man was told the pup was stolen. Photo of Mark Stocks with the two rescued pups. And it must go without saying mark stocks is a "gipo pikie travellar knacker" No ?????? he must be innocent..... Would it be racist to say most of the stabbings carried out in uk are by black or asians???? Or that most of the dog thefts are carried out by Travellers???
  18. Ive found fells with a dash of border to be very good digging dogs, but i think its more about the strain than any particular breed or cross
  19. Best thing to do wood smoke is fill the bottoms of the pipe with soil as you're laying them, about 2-3" you could always put a stone or wooden box in if you think the pipes will be too cold but as long as there's no draughts i reckon it would be ok
  20. York guns do them, failing that pm me for the number of a dealer that does them
  21. Could cause you trouble if the dog decides to have a taste mid tube. And i think it was in one of JD's books that told of the dangers of rust in the pipes,i think one dog died and another in a bad way from what i remember. If you're using pipes that are unbreakable its best to cut them into 1m lengths so that you can dig a section out should you need to.
  22. I would expect most had smothered,i know a fella who dug them years back when it was legal who dug at least 2 that had died, but on one of the digs the dog was unconcious too but was revived, the badger was dead.Plenty of terriers suffocate while going about their job,so its not unlikely that a few badgers would have suffered the same fate.
