Spot on with the above comments Blackbriar. We have to learn to appreciate FOOD again & thats begins at home & shcool ( I remember that we had a large veggie garden at school & used the produce !). We all have to make an effort everyday by staying out of the supermarkets ( I'm shooting myself in the foot here as I sell direct to them !! ), buy Local, get an allotment, keep some chocks instead of a F.......ing cat ! , find out about all your Local farmers,CSA's, etc, find out about Slowfood & all the other groups who surport real food,it dos'nt cost anymore than the SHIT in the

Yes this issue is of great concern to me, as I farm full time for a living, selling direct to the supermarkets without any contract ! We don't have any waste as we keep a few pigs for ourselves but this is not possible for most people. This subject is a BIG one & I really think it starts at HOME & the way we see food ! I Keep around to 100 a year, all of them are cross bred, they have a very big grass paddock, feed them wheat & old bread from the bakers soaked in whey ( we have a goat farm,so the whey is a waste product from our cheese making ! ), they all get to about 2.2 Kg upto 2.6 kg max after 15 weeks. We sell 20 to 30 which pays for the wheat,we save a fortune this way !!

Had half an hour on my hands this evening, walk around the farm & bagged my first hare & it's a monster, I'm happy, just wanted to share !!!
