Working terriers and terriermen
thomaspeters1992 replied to hunt's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
i dont mean to offend you but you dont need relatives or neighbours that are into fieldsports to get you started. i started of with just a ferret bout 5 years ago, i saw ones for sale in the local paper. i looked them up to see what theyre used for, then i bought one. then i went hunting with people i didnt even know hunted. ferreting led me on to getting a lurcher then lurchers led me on to getting a terrier. now i have 2 lurchers and 2 terriers and 3 ferrets. all im saying is you dont need a relative or nieghbour to guide you. i started fine by myself and im doing fine -
i recently was on holiday and flew out from dublin airport. as we were driving around the runways i saw at least 8 hares. do you think they'd mind if you wnet in and gave them a few spins ha

there's strong hares all over the country you just have to no where to find them. bout 5 min drive away from me we were out with the terriers and came across 8 good strong 1s just walking the field. going to save that spot for next season. -

i went out one night, with the terrier and the lamp. got one 3 fields away from my house. not half as big as that mink in the picture -
where in ireland are you from bud. ah sure depends on what youre digging
-
put the pup in with an adult dog that wudnt get annoyed, feed him plenty of meat and stuff the pup will fill himself up and fall asleep. the radio and old clothes work sometimes aswell
-
i was looking at getting one, but are they any good on the lamp or are they only good for the end of digs?
