  6. Oh well it seems that most people are not interested in obedience at shows, I`de of thought that even those of you that are Anti showing would be Pro obedience, as at least people would be doing something constructive with their dogs... Perhaps it is how it seems to the bunny huggers, were all just thugs that just point our dogs at those poor defenceless rabbits and expect our dogs to kill kill kill, I prefer to think that their is more too our game than that, and that includes having a dog under some degree of control... Yours in sport Mars..

  10. Insure it as a mongrel, cos thats what a lurcher is...
  11. I noticed that you`d got Obedience on at that show & i`ve got my pitch booked for the campsite... Now i`me not saying that my mutts are any good at obedience but good enough to be "ok" in the field.... i don't reckon the tasks should be all that difficult, as you`ve said above, walk to heel, retrieving, chuck in a jump perhaps a blind stay & maybe run a lure across in front of the dog to see if it can be stopped/called off... All things I.M.O. that could be a reasonable Fun test for a lurcher.., with the emphasis on Fun... Yis Mars...
  12. Just wondered what people think about Obedience competions at shows, I personaly think it`s a good thing, at a show it breaks up the day a bit, and where`s the harm in having an obedient and under control dog. Some people i think that the competitions have no relavance in the field, but i.m.o it`s the job of a lurcher to fit in with whatever work you choose to do with it, and to do that it needs to be obedient . And perhaps if we get a good response to this thread some show orginisers may take notice and put on a class at their shows.. Yis Mars.
  13. Does it take rapid shots...??? I.E. say your takeing a pic of your dog jumping a fence/gate with an ordinay single shot you end up with just a pic of the fence/gate by time the bleedin thing decides to take a pic.... Mars...

  17. What about a camera that takes half decent pics, but it would`nt break your heart or your bank balance if you dropped it in a cow pat whilst trying to get a pic of your dog just springing into action chasing the rabbit thats just bolted... Say summat around the £100 mark... any recomendations anyone,??? Yis Mars.
  18. I think Wilf`s reply may have been a play on words, i.e. heavy going {horsey connection} & hard work the two dogs fighting...... Or he could be just be being a P###k Either way i reckon you should try too keep the pup, you`ve put the hard work in & it`s not that your disheartend with the dog it`s just a problem of housing.... Yis Mars...
  19. Having seen many different crosses for sale, and topics on planned matings, one very frequent question is what bloodlines are they, and the question is almost always aimed at the non sighthound part of the mix. I.E. In my own case i was asked what lines of Bull are in my Bull X bitch.. and i`ve seen what lines of Bedlington & what lines of Wheaton, asked.???? I cant ever remember seeing anyone one Ask, What lines of Greyhound was used, was it a sprint specialist,? was it a distance runner,? I guess what i`me asking is,??? Is the breeding of the sighthound/Greyhound important in the
