    I havn't been using the stable lately, Lost my horse at christmas. went in this morning got a blackbird up top sitting. Swallows in their usual spots, and a haynet with a bit of hay in it. I thought I had better clear it away but noticed there was a robins nest in the bottom with a few eggs in. I'll have to get some pics when they hatch. Leave her to it.

    Try this link, it compares the 450d to the 500d. I found this website very useful when I was looking for my first dslr. I bought a 450d which I am happy with.I really think that its down to the bank balance though. http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/CanonEOS500D/

    I watched a lot of the videos and then all of a sudden it went off and I couldn't find the tutorial again. I looked this morning zilch. I did watch the one of the owl and hawk, he showed you how to photograph them in flight and through the cages too. There are a lot of interesting vids on there. Trouble is when I look at so many at a time, I get even more confused I think It will be one a t a time and then practise from now on... Love the moon shot. and I like a lot of your deer pics.

    Welcome to the forum. Like the pics. I have only recently had a dslr. So still playing. My favourite is the black dog with no 2 on. so sharp and full action. when I try to get shots of our dogs belting about they are just a blurrrrr........ I'll just have to keep taking more and more, I think its the only way to learn.

    I'd like to thank MuttleMctuttle for the help last month with my new camera. I had taken moon shots and was given good advice and some camera settings which I tried this month on the full moon. Hope it has paid off. What do you think?

    As I said in my post that I had left the settings from previous use. the photo of the hounds I had trimmed. but the picture was taken with the master, I didn't like it so I cropped him out and left the dogs. the iso 400 av 8.0 1/125 programme mode then I altered it to 100 iso and got av 6.3 1/80 P mode. I also had the white balance on shade. it brought a bit of warmth to the picture. If I think about it too much I get even more confused. As for the shutter speeds well I don't understand them at all. thanks for your help. muttle.

    thanks for your comments. I must admit I like straight b/w or colour really, its just that not only am I learning to use a dslr properly, I am learning photoshop cs2 also. So I have been playing with photos this afternoon. The thing thats niggling me at the moment is focusing. I get confused, when I take a picture of eg. the hounds. I hadn't altered my setting and the focus came up as manual in the middle. Is it best for shots like that to have it on auto focusing? I had the camera set on P because it was my first proper go with the camera (outside of the garden)

    Took a few pics this afternoon here are just a couple. I'm still getting used to my new camera. I'll take some better ones when they come next time. Owning a dslr certainly makes taking pictures more interesting AND CHALLENGING. also making sure that the settings are put back before I use it again. the first one didn't come out very well.(binned it) !! wrong white balance and high iso.

    The farmers all around here are agreeing on £3-50 a bale. It's in such short supply because of the dry weather. If you have a regular supplier you would be all right for hay but most of them are saying there just isn't enough to go round their usual customers. I have bought round bales this year. But I only got them easily because the farmer owed us a favour!!!!!

    Having a sort out of old pics found this one. You don't come across many like this .

    I found him in the ditch at the edge of field. nearly slid in the ditch while trying to take pic. The hawthorn trees overhang so very dark. Had to fiddle around for ages with settings. loads of stinging nettles on the side of the bank. Thankfully he sat there still while I muddled about!. hope you like it. I like all the autumn colouring.

    Nice pic mate looks good what's that red line I used a sigma 300 lens full on. took the picture. zoomed in on photoshop and then cropped it, its just something to do with the lens, because as I zoom out as the pic was taken it disappears. I'm not very technical on cameras, I have only had this 450d canon for three weeks or so. I'm still playing with all the settings.

    I know what I did now. last night the sky was clear and the moon bright tried photographing again this time I noticed the reflection so I moved the tripod and camera until the shadow aligned with the moon and voila!!! no reflection. Only thing is it isn't that clear but it'll do me. Its only fun, and playing around with new camera. thats how you learn.
