AS MY 14WEEK OLD LURCHER PUP HAS STARTED GOING TO THE TOILET WHERE EVER HE WANTS IN THE HOUSE & KEEPS BITING BUT DOESNT KNOW WHEN TO STOP. Mine was a little JRterrier bitch smooth coat n docked tail Got her for my 12th bday off a farm where she was born in a barn and her mother fed them on rabbits. Took her ferreting just to watch from an early age and she ended up being the best little marking / Bushing dog i could wish for, we used to trust her more over the ferrets if she still said theres a rabbit in there! The ground we worked was hard clay so alot of the buries were very shallow about 1ft deep. if the ferret laid up she would tell you exactly where it was (on occasion) by start looking at the ground turning her

Iv seen lurcher pups advertised with there dew claws removed? Why is this? Is it nessasary to have them removed? and can you get them removed if needed as mine is 13wks old?

Thankyou lads How much in weight would i best feeding him 3 times aday? Collie/Whippet/Greyhound 13 weeks old? Also is it a good idea to leave dryfood in his bowl allday to eat when he wants?

Does anyone use there local butchers to get meat for there dogs? I have just been down mine and he does bags for 25p a lb contaning everything meat/offal. Will this be anygood to start giving my lurcher pup 13wks old occasionally or gradually get him on it fulltime?? What are your veiws???

It sure was had a brilliant jack russell years back who was golden on marking buries, but unfortunatly not long enough in the leg she would of been cracking to work along side a lurcher god bless her

Cheers for that lads. I have thousands of acres i ferret and shoot on which i have proven my responsibility / trustworthyness over the years so I will be ok. But when seeking new permission,do you lads say you use a dog?? or just say you catch rabbits?? Why are we sometimes frowned upon?? is it because we hunt with dogs? or is it lurchers are associated with poachers??? Probably both lol

Nice looking Pup mate. Iv just got my 1st lurcher Collie/whippet/greyhound hes 13 weeks old iv had him a week, and he doesnt like being left yet,not even to walk out the room so trying to get that out of him slowly but seems quite bright tho so fingers crossed. All the best with her

Hi all After 26years of ferreting and hours of watching working lurchers on youtube, i have decided to get my first ever lurcher pup (well i decided to rescue him as he was going to be dumped as the large family of 8kids, 3dogs could not lookafter him I have had him for a week now and he is just coming upto 13wks old. Already he sits and lets me know when he needs to go outside. However as this is my first lurcher i am after any advice / tips to get him being obedient & working to the best of his ability when he is ready. I am after any advice on best foods etc / when to show

Hi all I am a very keen ferreter of 26years and have just aquired my first ever running dog which i want to train up to come hunting with me. He is a 12 wk old Collie/Whipet/greyhound and i am after any advise you can give to help me bring him along, as in best foods etc / when should I first show him a rabbit skin? / How old before i take him out with me? Also can anyone recommened a decent book??? I look forward to your replies Grubsy
