  1. Yes I agree you should up your game a bit sounds like the place is riddled and the farmer really wants a job doing. Im in the same boat actually Ive just got a load more permissions that have some serious pigeon/crow problems. Thing is Ive shot smaller farms for years to the point where Ive more or less shot everything on them so they dont really need me anymore but Ive been going down for the odd squirrel and rabbit for years and a general plink, but in the last 5 visits Ive only shot one crow. Now Ive just got two farms twice the size who are actually ploughing some fields over a
  2. Aye Ive arranged to meet the keeper through the landowner this morning as I dont want to think Im poaching although the pigeon decoys would have put that idea to bed. Many thanks to the people who have replied.
  3. The owner is a large bordering estate, but I assumed by giving me written permission the farmer who rents this farmland from the estate had the sporting rights included in their agreement. But thats not the case as I found out today from a neighboring farmer planting some hedgerows, that the farm is rented and has been for many years but has a syndicate shoot on it also. I dont know how it works but someone must have the sporting rights to be running a shoot and the pens have been there on the land for years as Ive seen them today and they were knackered. I thinkthe landowner said
  4. Just got permission on a big farm which is great news, well I thought it was. I was told today the farmer only rents the farm and doesnt have sporting rights, so can I still shoot the pigeons and crows?? I have got written permission but there is a keeper on there who goes mental if he sees anyone shooting and smashed up a gas gun last week because it was placed near a pen by the farmer. Thing is the farm is getting hammered with pigeons, I just want to get on em but am I entering a war??
  5. Ive just got a great permission but found out today by some farm workers that the farmer only rents all the land from the estate and they dont have sporting rights, so does that cover pigeon control under the general licence? Anyone else know if the land you shoot on is covered for sporting rights as I dont want doing for armed tresspass!
  6. I had a look through the above scope the other day. I didn't buy because of the connection with Gary C and his worship club that is the bbs... All I can say is I had to bite my tongue a few times when exchanging with the guy on the bbs and his obvious dummy out tantrums and ban happy nature but to be fair he once got me back on after a ban, so we kind of made up. But personel differences aside the product really was impressive as much as it pains me to say probably optically as good as the Nikon I bought instead however Im not sure the eye relief would ever suit my shooting style as
  7. Same barrel on the 101 and same reg so its a pellet thing as said. Some soft pellets slightly deform when pushed through a mag with a probe but its minimal (maybe microscopic) pellets like jsb and airarms field. But when they seat in the barrel the blast of air should slightly balloon the skirt back out especially on an fac airgun or say .177 as more pressure is required to push the pellet out in .177 as its doing near 800 fps even in 12 fpe form. Anyhow without babbling to much about the technical stuff, I reckon its bollox that the hw101 is any more accurate than a hw100 as how c
  8. Had some of my best score like 47s and a best of 48 ex 50 on a good testing sporting layout using black gold no wind so I rate the cartridge. With most cheap firbre wads Ill only hit 40-42s on the same layout (small changes on layout each week). Wind wont tell you the difference between a good and bad cartridge as inmo your pattern is blowing all over the place, I always used 6s in high wind as Im convinced they pattern better but some clubs will not let you use anything over 28grm and especially not plas wads. I always say if you consistenty beat your mates on a still day then you
  9. Aye river dearn in south yorkshire is riddled in em I cant even fish on the bottom for chub anymore as Ill get a cray a chuck on sweetcorn in summer. Im gutted because Ive had some 5 1/2 ibs chub out of my favourite old swims but they were nowhere to be seen last summer. Then one day I see cormorants on the river nailing the last of the chub, god knows where they came from.. But my point is there are no chublings to be found or young roach anymore as the crays are just eating any eggs inmo. Anyhow anyone fancy a barrel full get some traps lobbed in the dearn. Sad to here th
  10. I dont know the legallity now days but when my dad was alive he used to dock the terrier pups. And he used to hate to see a dog with a bad dock. What he used to tell me was the general rule of thumb was to arch the pups back and line the tail up with its nose and dock it there level with its nose, that way he used to tell me that when you have a dog to ground and you want to pull him out you should just have at least a hand full of tail to grab and not much more.. I used to have a lakey/russel bitch that made a cracking worker real fiesty but who ever docked her tail made a right b
  11. Get that Ian Harford sent (TEAM WILD!) with his big bore airrifle, he will shoot it drugged or not then make out it was the hardest stalk of his life, Most of what he shoots is a matter of walk up to 20yrds and pull the trigger I mean most 5 year olds could do it, I just wonder what he gets paid, and the other two numpties are something else I wont even start with Keith wowsers!! his eyes have minds of their own dont even know how he can focus them down a scope . Anyway point is $25k would be the most expensive pellet in history surely. I would pay $25k to listen to his screams when the li
  12. Ive shot about 7-8 woodcock in my time but never know which is the pin feather does anyone know the proper feathers?????? I had the usual 10 beaters stood round plucking feathers saying "its that one mate"......"no it isnt its these here mate"....."Ill carry it for you mate".... Then you never get it back lol They go in the poachers pocket now along with any snipe. Best way to cook em inmo is spatchcock them...belisimo!
  13. If its a 1990s superstar carbine then it was as good as an hw77 in the right hands what I would do is get the superstar. Then in time try a tx as in fairness there is no comparison a tx200 is like a venom hw77 straight out of the box well at least mine was... Anyhow I guess what Im trying to say is you will never know how good a tx is until you have shot some more conventional springers. A bit like buying a Ferrari for your first car, until you drive a hot hatch you wont know how good it handles and thats the whole enjoyment of airguns in my youth how they evolved quickly in the 90
  14. Nice one never thought of using a chicken distress call on the mobile good tip thanks.
