  1. I just cant get rid of the pigeons I shoot. Does anyone know of a game dealer that would take my birds in south Yorkshire, Sheffield Barnsley area? Thanks.
  2. Sent you a pm Arran, got a proper one here for you.
  3. Here is a few more recent trips with the rapid
  4. This scope has been out twice but I prefer Bushnells so its either swap for a mint Legend or I would put money to for another elite, Everything works perfect IR blue and red, and its clear and crisp as you like, if fact had it at the side of my mates Swarovski on his stalking rig and we both said the same, there is nothing to pick between them. Unreal optics for the money. Ill say £100 posted for quick sale and it comes with box and flip up covers.
  5. That's great im in In south Yorkshire mate, where are you as Ive been taking my birds to a butcher I know but even he is fed up of them. I have realised this year that they only keep 24hours then they have had it especially in summer. Ive got to get a better dealer for next year as Im going to prepare even better next year as I don't want to waist half as many as I have this year. I will definatley take your number for next year as game season starts in a few weeks and I cant shoot until spring with the pults down.
  6. I shoot close to medium range with both eyes open. For a long range shot I will shut one eye, as Im right eye doninent and right handed so I shut my left eye it makes me more accurate for a long un. But for close range shots keeping both eyes open increases your peripheral vision and allows you fast shooting and more chance of a double or triple if you shoot a semi, a bit like hitting a ball with a cricket bat you would want both eyes open to see the ball coming towards you at speed, as it gives your brain chance to process where exactly to stike it.
  7. I did mate, it still only does about the same as with the standard cylinder 60 shots ish Ive run It dry a few times, miles from the car, I wish it did more like 100 that would be great, but I suppose you cant have it all. My problem is plinking when Im bored, all me decoys have a .177 sized hole in them
  8. No mate they say you never really knock a serious hole in the population. Im out 4-5 days per week on my permissions, and some weeks Ive shot over 300 plus there are 4 more shooting on the permission and Ive heard them banging all day sometimes on the other fields. And without sounding daft, I just shoot what I can carry at the minute but I have done the ninety mark on my own a few times this season and its plain hard work as Im disabled, to be honest I cant give them away! but the point is you never seem to knock a hole in them, they are still pairing up, so there will be more you
  9. 12-13 foot Jesus!! At what range???? If you asked 10 men on here mate what 13 foot was at a given distance there would be a fair old variety of answers, a bit like an eyesight test. you got some fast woodies around there mate, don't you think every shot is different? A wise man setsup so the birds are coming up wind towards you and dropping 30yrds in front of your pattern, even my 6 year old can hit them as there is no lead required at all its point and squeeze, and the day works out cheaper on shells. Shooting 60yrd high birds in gale force maybe mate but the art of decoyin
  10. More than ever this year for me, its a bumper year. If you only have 50 acres its not a lot look elsewhere to where they are feeding, timing is key, if something else was cut after that's where they will be going.
  11. Sorry about the poor quality, taken on my old phone.
  12. Ive had some similar days with the rapid lately but I enjoyed using the 100 today, very consistent shots, problem is there isn't enough!
  13. Had a nice afternoon I forget how good this little gun is with using my Rapid a lot, I couldn't pick one.
  14. There isn't a decoy on the market that is more lifelike than an dead bird, If you cradle it or prop its head up correctly and position it correctly. Dead birds set out correctly will always pull more birds in my experience. If fact I know someone who cuts the wings off dead birds at the knuckle and sticks them to his decoys with spray on carpet glue, he swears by it,
  15. Hate to be a party pooper lads, but Im only saying what I was told the other day in a gunshop.. He told me he had sold a couple of them to end up coming back, all doing 9.5 fpe, one had been back to daystate a few times and was still suffering problems, the gunshop owner told me he was getting fed up with Daystate. So just make sure they are doing the power you want for whatever your doing, 9.5 fpe is ok for hft and short range hunting but personally I would want more like 11.5 for hunting, but that's just me.
  16. Sorry mate I don't agree you can use dead birds amongst the decoys , in fact that is exactly what to do to make your pattern more convincing. If you get sunshine, then start to remove your shells from the pattern as you build the pattern up with dead birds. Im out 4-5 days per week, so if it works I don't fix it, there are other shooters on my permission using whirleys and flappers but I still shoot more birds, starting with 12 simple shells and around 10 dead birds mixed in with them, I sometimes use 2 crows to one side of the pattern, if you put the crows too near then this will spoo
  17. Bobbed out for a few hours today, on some cut corn, could have doubled my figures but Around 30 mark is enough to carry these days for me, I shot 4 more out of shot that went down a banking but the foxes will have them, nice afternoon.
  18. Ive struggled to get rid of birds this year big time, anyone know any Butchers or gamedealers, restaurants that take them near Barnsley/Sheffield?
  19. Anything 6, 32grm for clean kills at least 3/4 choke. Just depends what I can get hold of.
