My ferrets 9 times out of 10 have food all the time however I always make sure the night before i go ferreting theres a rabbit in there.. i always got told to have your ferret fed before working for many reasons and its never hindered my experience. When out working, after weve caught a rabbit i tend to throw the kidney or liver or heart in the box for them its usually gone by the time they come out again... just keeps them going during the day.. I also take one of those travel bottles for dogs so the dogs and the ferrets can stay hydrated. I've never used the MK1 so i cant comment but

As The One says mate, a small amount of dog shampoo will work. It's what I used on the one I took in. However if you dont have any, pets at home actually does a ferret shampoo that is probabley cheaper than the dog stuff? The one I took in had been attacked by next doors dog and looked in really bad shape .. Didn't work it as it looked old but I gave it a couple of months of comfort.. it died comfortly (in its sleep) so im putting it down to definate old age.. was a really tame friendly ferret but dont think it was ever worked.. feels good when they on the brink.. come to you totally helpl

Welcome!.. I miss my old springer sometimes

Id offer to bring you to one of my permissions but im a bit tired of showing people how to go on then never hearing from them again, so holding off showing people the ropes for a while, im not half as experienced as some of the lads on here but i picked it up pretty well and like to think im at a stage i can give advice. First thing is.. if I was you.. Go ferreting before you actually get ferrets, if you havnt already, it might not be for you and you will waste a lot of time and some money if you find out you dont like it. Once you get your ferrets just focus on handeling them..A LOT..

lol read that post the other day was wondering how long it might take to pop up

That is normal..my 2 jills are sisters and one of them is mothering the other one.. just the other ones might not like it especially if they are young... hence the smell.. as long as theres no broken skin they will be ok i expect just keep an eye on it..
-
yea.. what Millet said.. sit and watch them for a bit when they sick of looking at you see what they do.. if one starts being scared/annoyed youll see the tail lift up and you will instantly smell a change in smell stregnth... humms!

this is the exact reason i was out yesterday.. it was pointless loads of young and got only one rabbit worth keeping but one of the farmers have been ringing saying the usual "were overrun by rabbits" .. as long as we show face they dont have a reason to complain....and if they cant see us letting the tennis balls go they cant say nout...we are very luky as 5 of our permissions we are the only ones allowed on and one of them he lets anyone on so we dont go to that much... they are all good permissions for shooting and ferreting so we would be daft to loose it just because its not the "ferreti

wouldnt look too much into it.. not everyone is out to get you! .. one of the permissions i have the farmer was very sharp with us for a while.. that was when he could even be bothered to say anything.. they are busy blokes and usually pretty tired.. i bet youve snapped at people cos' your tired. dont know how you got he thinks your dog is knicked from him asking questions.. he might of just been trying to take an interest.. offer to give him a hand with something.. we always offer to help every time we see the farmers.. most of the time they dont want or even need it, but the fact your a
